The business of robots...kindof

<randomness>

I had an exam today on analyzing financial statements, and after becoming quite tired robots & business just kinda melds together....this was part of my away message....

"The DuPont Model? Just think: Three things to multiply together (Net Profit Margin, Asset Turnover, and Financial Leverage), and the DuPont team grabs 3 goals this year. They should all equate to the Return on Equity, which means all the goals should be brought back to the goal zone."

I have come to the conclusion that FIRST-ers will read this and think, ::sigh:: "She's talking business again"...and Babsonites will think, ::sigh:: "She's talking robots again"...and I will remember the DuPont model....which is all that matters

Wink The DuPont Model

Jessica:

Glad to hear that MOEHawk is helping you with your financial courses --- we didn't even design him to do that!

Taking this a step further... your own QPs are credits and the QPs for the competing alliance are debits. Hopefully, your alliance comes out in the black on your balance sheet.

Honestly though, we did not use any DuPont financial models when we designed our robot this season. Maybe next year...

By the way, we are one of at least 8-9 DuPont-sponsored teams. Some of the others have been very successful using different financial / business models.

Keep up the creative thinking!

Yea, either high school business courses can be really helpful or such a joke. For instance, I took a Business Law course my sr year in HS, and then when I got to Babson I was required to take an intro to Business Law, which I thought would be a breeze with the class that I had taken........well, no, that didn't happen. Instead, I struggled through the college Law course, and I realized that my HS law course was merely an overview in contract and marriage law.

Funny part about it, though, I could have used my HS credits to count as my business law credit, but I declined for some odd reason....ah, well....

And yes, any time I mention Babson within the realm of robots I usually define it as randomness, or vice versa...
