Re: Trouble booting Linux from hard drive after CD install

What error message are you getting? Is it the BIOS "invalid system disk" message? Or a "kernel panic" message?

If it is the first message, you probably did not get the boot loader installed in the master boot record. Either the install did not finish. Or, your BIOS may have a protection to prevent viruses from writing to the master boot record.

In the latter case, you would turn the virus protection off and re-install (actually, most installations have a rescue feature or you could upgrade).
