Re: Teenage Deaths
When I was in junior high school one person died of an accident. While in high school three students died. Two died as a result of a car accident. The other committed suicide.
Suicide is a topic that unfortunately hits very close to home for me. On August 26th of this year, days before returning to college my sister committed suicide. She hung herself at my mother’s home in New Jersey. Paramedics were able to restart her heart after being onsite for over 20 minutes. At the hospital it was determined that she was brain dead and that every organ is her body was failing. The next day she passed away. There were never any warning signs in her case and she was the last person anyone would have expected to commit suicide. She was a very popular person in high school and on campus. She never reached out or expressed any signs of depression. You never fully understand what is going through the head of a suicidal person. However, it is important to remember that it is their decision. For the most part, there is nothing you could do to prevent it. You just have to find a way to celebrate their life and then gracefully move on. |

Re: Teenage Deaths
I just heard of a death of Mark Tsvok from Hall High School in West Hartford - a kid I knew although I did not go to school with him. I have never had somebody I really knew well die, and it just is wrong, shouldn't happen. I don't know if others knew him, sorry if I am breaking this news to you. Story here http://www.ctnow.com/news/local/hc-t...eadlines-local Great kid, terrible thing to lose somebody like this.

Re: Teenage Deaths
Not so much at high school - but at the Technical School I attended out in the Chicago area. Student was drinking during the day (when his roommates where gone, and he was supposed to be at work) and since there was no one else there he ended up drinking too much, puked, and choked on his own puke...

Re: Teenage Deaths
No one I knew died durring high school or college, but I think 2 or 3 (out of ~2600) died while I was in high school. I know two died in a car accident, and there were probaly more.

We've only had one death since I entered ETEP...some girl passed away after a long battle with cancer (can't quite remember which at the moment). I wasn't very close to her but I'd met her once...it was sad.
In Brazil you only get your driver's license after the age of 18, and most of the students have graduated by then, so we never get any problems with driving...i'm sure some kids get high now and then and we've got gang members around too, but fortunately so far we haven't had to deal with any fatal accudentes... |
