Re: Tier 1 teams

usually poeple dont know this happens. Then after they forget to sign up and dont get into Atlanta complain and say that everyone should get to go. I garantee that not all of the open slots now will be used up simply becuase some teams wont see that they can. (I know other teams cant go because of funding or that their sponsors want to see performance before dropping $$$) This is how we got to ATL last year.

Re: Tier 1 teams

Even with last year's lottery there were spots in Atlanta which took a long time to fill. We were chosen as one of 30 tier 1 teams to vie for 11 spots via a lottery last year. A day after the initial sign up day for lottery participants, 5 of 11 were still open. I can't imagine passing up a shot at Atlanta.

Exactly how I feel...My team is signed up for 2 regionals right now but with the recent opening of Teir 1 Registration I have been trying to convince them that we should sign up when we have the chance. However right now it would probably cost about $600 each so nobody is willing to say yes, but we will ask sponsors for money and we could do a bunch of fundraisers...but still we are not signing up. Any ideas on how to convince them?

Re: Tier 1 teams

We were suprised as well. We found out yesterday. I was called down to my coach's classroom after lunch, I went into the shop and our captain Zac told me that itwas open up to Tier 1 teams and to hurry up and sign us up. I did, so now were are going to Atlanta as well as going to the Great Lakes Regional, the Buckeye Regional and we are on the waiting list for the Detriot regional and the Greater Toronto Regional. Wow, this is going to be a busy season, so much school work to make up. I'm happy though, we're going back to Atlanta. It was so much fun last year. Good Luck to everyone this upcoming season.

Drop a regional in place for the championships, the cost will still be $1000 more for the chmp then a regional but if thats your only way for 571 to get there as of now then maybe you will have to make that decision...

Where are you guys getting all the money to go to four regionals and the championship? I think our team would love to try some of your fundraising techniques.

If you drop a regional to go to Championship it will cost you $500.00 plus the $1000.00 more. The second regionals deposit is non refundable and non transferable to Championship.

OK i wasnt sure if the deposit would be able to be transferred but i guess we have the answer now. Well maybe that shows why there is still 20 spots open for the championship.

My team always pays their own way. Last year it was around $370. The year before that, when we qualifiied just a few weeks before Houston, it was $600. Everybody was perfectly willing to pay.
Money is not a factor, experiencing a FIRST Championship event is priceless.
I'm really sorry your team doesn't find it necessary to go. That's the only persuading thing I can say...
