Go to Post Earlier this week it took me a little bit too long to realize that the reason my pen wasn't writing correctly was that it was actually a screwdriver. I'm going to have to ask for a few nights of honest sleep before signing off on a report. - EricVanWyk [more]

Exclamation Shop Safety Training Resources

Happy Holidays to all,

Our team has grown to the point where I can no longer provide shop safety lessons on an as needed basis. I need to have a short course on shop safety and give an exam which would in my mind include performace criteria by the students.

I just did a quick search of the forums and found that several teams list such a course as a requirement. What I am after is resources, preferably online, that I can use to structure such a course. I would also greatly appretiate any documents that your team has used to teach or test shop safety.

Thanks a bunch,

APS

It must also be completed while being supervised so that it is not blindly copied.

Thanks,

Re: Shop Safety Training Resources

116 has a shop training in the early fall. Every student goes through it each year, even if they are 4th year students. One of the adults, usually Dave, goes through the shop and basically goes over everything, from a screwdriver up to the bandsaw and table saw. It usually lasts an hour or so. The adults and seasoned students keep an eye out during building as well as being available to help anyone who needs it.

There are usually about 4 sessions over a 2 week period for students to goto, and are mandatory for everyone. Students need to goto only one, but 4 makes it easier for them to make it to one, as well as making the size more managable.

The mill and lathe are advanced training, usually done on an expressed interest basis.

Just a little clarification for those who read that post like I did: Each of the sessions is the same thing repeated and each student has to go to only one of them.
