YMTC: Your Thoughts

Personally, I've enjoyed the discussions I've participated and and have learned a few things.

I think it'd be interesting if the polls involved in the YMTC were delayed by a few days or posts or something. As it is, the poll is getting a mix of first blush gut reactions and reasoned positions taken after reading the discussion. A poll to take before reading the discussion and a "exit" poll to take after reading the discussion would also be interesting, but this would take some sort of large modification on Brandon's part.

I've really enjoyed the YMTC threads so far. There's been some good discussion, and my eyes have been opened to some viewpoints I would have never considered. I think they'll be even more interesting during the build season.

That being said, it's crucial that teams send all their non-simple rule questions to the FIRST Q&A. The FIRST Q&A is the only way to get an official answer from FIRST. Even with highly credible and intelligent posters, YMTC will never be able to give an official answer. Remember, just because you saw it on ChiefDelphi, doesn't make it rue.

As an active participant I really love the debate. I do not think that this would be good to run between January 7 and April 30. My reason is this: There are many issues that could be brought up from regional to regional. If acted upon then we will have the same scenario as say the tape measure rule. I would prefer, as stated many times here and with FIRST, that the rules remain constant through out build and competition. If there is a mistake, oh well we will live with it. Remember all teams follow the same rules. I think that debate is good after the fact as it should improve things for next year.

I know that I am going against the grain on what has been posted but I believe in consistency and have been lobbying for it.
