I AM A JOCK

Thats right! I said it! I'm a jock!! I'm proud of it too. I know that there are certain prejudices and even a slight hatred towards sports by some. But not to sound conceited, I'm a prime example of a "jock." I play many different Varsity sports...football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and lacrosse in the spring. Not to mention I've played hockey since I was 8 and baseball when I was 9. Amazing how I have time to be Captain of a Robotics team and play sports. But at the same time, I am also a devoted FIRST participant. FIRST isn't about labels, even though Woody trashed sports a couple times at Kickoff, he also stated that FIRST isn't primarily about robotics, its about people. So why can't we all just get along? jocks and geeks unite! lol I have a dream.... (and other such cliches). The TV notion that geeks are forever doomed to be tortured by jocks and athletes. That geeks are losers that wear tight clothing, suspenders, coke bottle glasses and have pocket protectors. And the jock stereotype of being a bully and having no intelligence. All things of the past.

Therefore, the point of this thread? I just wanted to try pick up girls. I wanted to let girls know that I'm an athlete and hopefully meet some cutie girls. lol no i'm JK, I'm just saying that FIRST is now so integrated and diverse with athletes and "nerds" that we are all one in the same. Theres no need for bashing sports, we're all friends here; bonded by a common interest- F.I.R.S.T.

okay, so you say that if we aren't "jocks", then we're "geeks"? thanks alot...jk...

and yeah, your right, "geeks" don't have to wear a certain kind of clothes, they can wear whatever they want, just like the rest of the world, so , yeah, t.v. shouldn't classifly people who wear those kind of clothes as "geeks" becasue they could be the coolest person in the world...

and he wasn't bieng mean about sports, he was just saying that sports gets alot of attention when it shouldn't, its not as important as knowledge, and robotics encorages students to learn, so, technically, it should get more attention than it does.

im not trying to sound mean or anything, really, im glad that your trying to get people to get along...im just trying to get my point across. thanks for listening.

Harrison has a little shameless behaviour in the past
In the words of Bill Gates "Be nice to the nerd, one day he will be your boss."

Personally, I always try to find the balance between my sports and my computer.

I by no means am a jock, or a 'geek' (i think).

Oh, just for the record, the NHL playoffs are starting tonight...All I have to say about that:

GO LEAFS GO!!!

The point of the thread wasn't to "brag" of me being a jock. That part was a joke, if you actually read the thread competely. Anyways, it was noting the stereotypes between "jock and nerd" and how it is no longer present as evident in the FIRST community. And yeah, I do think of myself as a jock, CUZ I AM.
