Battery not Included
Per 5.3.2.2, the 120lbs weight limit does NOT include the battery or the short cable.

Re: Battery not Included
I agree with everyone else that this is a good rule. It allows more things to go into the robot itself. Just remember, even though its WEIGHT doesn't count, you still need a place to put it!

Re: Battery not Included
Her'e's a potentially stupid question, why is this such a big deal? They also dropped the weight limit to 120 lbs. so what do we gain?

We have 4 batteries that the scale at competition measured them from 12.4 to 13.6 pounds. All have about the same amount of wire on them. This also removes any of the very bad, "I heard about some team that weighed with a hollow battery." Everybody needs a battery to move most other things in the KOP don't have that kind of mass variation. Just my two cents Biff |

Re: Battery not Included
this will be a great advantage to all teams because now we don't have to try to find the "light" battery to use so we make weight, when i say light i mean the one that was not 12.6 but was only 12.4 not using a hollow one or anything like that.

Re: Battery not Included
A)It removes the cheating(not saying anyone does it, but it probably happens), and the random variations of battery weight/wire length from the equation.
B)The extra 2 or 3 lb.s dont sound like much, but when your filing off bolts to make weight, they sure do... |
