2005 Fisher Price specifications

Is the Fisher Price motor changed for 2005? From the fan baldes and the rear of the motor casing, it appears to be the 2003 motor. I found specs for the 2002-2004 motors here.

Re: 2005 Fisher Price specifications

My reading of rule <R20> which says the 2002 and 2003 motors are not replacements leads me to believe they are the 2004 motors, but I also wanted to see if everyone else interpreted it that way or if someone had a chance to match part numbers yet.

It also has the same format sticker that the Mabuchi motor has. The 2003 motor was from Mabuchi.

Does anyone have a link to the 2004 specs anyway untill this is cleared up ? I want to use them to ball park some numbers.

Re: 2005 Fisher Price specifications

Here we go again ...

Here is the deal with the 2005 FP motors:

1. In December, I received the transmission from FIRST that FP was donating this year.

2. I contacted Mabuchi and the engineer at Mabuchi sent me the motor spec sheet. I gave the spec sheet to FIRST and they were supposed to have it available on their website, but I have not found it yet.

3. There is one unknown: the extra Mabuchi motor may, or may not, be the same as the motors in the FP transmissions. I am investigating this today.

4. If I can't find the specs on the FIRST website, then I will upload the spec sheet to this thread tomorrow and will have an answer about the extra motor, too.

Re: 2005 Fisher Price specifications

Paul,

After looking at Mabuchi's web site this motors is what I have found http://www.mabuchi-motor.co.jp/engli...rs_555pcvc.pdf - The RS555-PC/VC.

It does say in the description for "Ride-On toys" so I am assuming this will not vary much from the FP motors or the extra motors found in the kit? I don't rember the exact way the free motor looked or the FP motor looked - but I think it does look a little like this...

P.S. - THIS IS NOT OFFICAL!!! This is just what I THINK!!!

Re: 2005 Fisher Price specifications

While the picture is strikingly similar, the free speed and stall torque are not nearly enough.

Re: 2005 Fisher Price specifications

The FP motor connected to the gearbox is the exact one that I have the specs for. There is a document on the FIRST website called "Tips and Guidelines" (or something close). In that document there is a chart on page 7 that lists the Fisher-Price motor specs for the motor only. Those are the specs I received from Mabuchi. I will post the motor curve tomorrow (I thought FIRST was going to post it).

Tha Mabuchi motor shipped loose is a different motor. FIRST has the specs on their website under "kit part technical specs". Just click on the link to "Mabuchi Motor". That link gives all the technical date for the loose Mabuchi motor.

I will get the part number for replacements by tomorrow. The Power Wheels distribution center needs a specific part number that Mabuchi doesn't dicatate.

Re: 2005 Fisher Price specifications

Thanks Paul. That looks like one heck of a little motor with peak power greater than the CIM!?!?!!!

Paul the numbers don't add up, I am guessing that the gear box would load things some, but working back wards 124 x 126 gets me a free speed of 15624 which is a bit off from the published 24000. I know that you will get to the bottom of this. Thanks Biff

Re: 2005 Fisher Price specifications

Thank you for the info Paul.

I do still have a question as I cannot access our kit of parts just yet and cannot verify this myself. Is this the same motor as last year? The ambiguity with the way it is written in the manual confused me. If anyone can check this it would be much appreciated.

Re: 2005 Fisher Price specifications

Tom,

Don't use the numbers from the chart regarding the FP motor w/gearbox. I have no idea where FIRST got those numbers. The only data that is verified is the spec for the motor only.

Pete,

It is definitely NOT the same motor as any of the past years. This motor is different from any other motor I have seen from FP.

I will start a new thread with the uploaded data sheet.

Re: 2005 Fisher Price specifications

Just looking at the specs, the FP motor is the most powerful motor in the kit now. Even stronger than the CIM with some a nice gear down. I got this by multiplying stall torque and max RPM and the fact that it had a higher max power generated. Using that measurement of lb-ft-rpms i got eleven thousand something for the FP and about nine thousand for the CIM. Just for comparison the window motors were down around 600. Huge difference in power.

The issue though is that a FP can't take anything close to stall torque for any period of time. It needs to spin fast to power its fan. I learned this the hardway when i built an arm for stack attack powered by 2 fp's and a globe. They get searing hot in a jiffy, and smoke follows soon after. That didn't stop them from functioning though.
