Actually, I think you can get MPLAB 7 of off Microchip's normal website since it is free to the public. Here's the link.
MPLAB IDE

Make sure you first uninstall any old versions of MPLAB you have got lying around and then go down to the bottom and click on MPLAB IDE v7.00 Full Install. The compiler however, is on the link from FIRST's website.

The version they are releasing to us is a new version that is unreleased to public and they want to keep it that way. I.e. Dont distribute it freely except to work on your FIRST robot.

The program that they are releasing to the FIRST teams before they even release it to the publuc is the C18 v2.4 compiler. not the MPLAB IDE. MPLAB IDE V7 has been out for a while.

Re: THE MASSIVE DOWNLOAD CENTER OF DOOM!!!

What i think is happening is there are too many user downloading it and most FTP servers have a set limit of connections that are allowed, and it is just kicking the other people who ar trying to connect. If anyone gets it could you email it to me? (brian.jennings@adelphia.net)

The license they have given to FIRST does not allow any team to download the compiler and redistribute it to other teams. No matter how well intentioned, anyone doing so is violating the terms of the license. You are showing that we cannot be trusted as a community, and running the very real risk of forcing Microchip pull the entire deal off the table. Please remove any links to unauthorized distributions of the compiler out of all messages and threads on these boards, and shut down unauthorized distributions of the compiler immediately.

I recognize that it may occasionally be difficult to get through to the Microchip web site to download the new compiler, due to the traffic that they are getting. However, it is important that everyone understand that there are two - AND ONLY TWO - legal ways to get the compiler. You can be patient and try again to download from their web site during the two week period that they will host that option. Or you can wait until after that and request a copy on CD through IFI.

Please folks, let's try and show that we are deserving of what we have been given here, and let's not screw this up. If we cannot show that we can abide by the rules, then we will never get another offer like this again. Conversely, if we can demonstrate that we are good stewards of the generosity from Microchip, then perhaps other vendors may follow suit in the future.

Ok guys. Please read Dave's post here:

http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...threadid=32453

Please edit your post immediately to remove your links to download the new compiler and link to FIRST's website from now on. If you don't know how to do that feel free to contact any one of the moderators to edit the post for you.

Thank you.

Re: THE MASSIVE DOWNLOAD CENTER OF DOOM!!!

Posting a link to download the IDE does not violate the rule. The IDE is available to the public, only the compiler is for FIRST participants only. Everybody calm down.

Esspecially since it seems I can no longer edit that post, so I can't do anything about it.

(And I would have appreciated it if you had PM'd me instead of filling the thread with it.)

And we know the link doesn't work right now. Asking in yet another thread won't make it come back any faster.

The links was edited so quickly because we don't want the Chief Delphi Forum and FIRST getting into any trouble. The decision was to remove the links immediately so FIRST can continue a good relationship with Microchip. It would be a shame to see FIRST or team 47 get into any trouble because of a simple misunderstanding on the allowable distribution method of the new compiler.

If you wishes to edit your original, me and the other moderators will be happy to do so, as long as the ftp link isn't there.
