Placing Tetras out of bounds
Does anyone know if it is legal to place a tetra you have taken from a rival robot out of bounds?

Yes, but it hardly gains you anything. Read rule <G19>.

Re: Placing Tetras out of bounds
but if you are in defencive mode, you will want to prevent them from scoring. if you take their tetras they have to go to the loading station which takes time. you can stall them if you place their tetras out of bounds.

Re: Placing Tetras out of bounds
I would imagine that simply driving in front of their robot to stall them would be more benefical. I mean, if you really wanted to, you could build in a simple "emergency brake" (I believe that team 25 has a white paper on building such device - superlight) into your drive train so that you could just drive and brake and you wouldn't have to worry about stalling out your motors or burning time placing tetras out of bounds and out of play only temporarily.

You can place their tetras out of bounds, but seems like more time you spend doing that, while they just go load up on another one meanwhile. Those that go out of bounds, will come back in. Though - yes, it would be good defense if you had the time to steal it from under their goal and plop it outside.. that could be useful if simply removing it from under the goal wasn't effective. Yes, you can carry more than one tetra on your robot at a time. Quote:
I haven't seen a rule against placing a tetra in their loading zone area, so long as their robot isn't there already and you interfere. Last edited by AmyPrib : 10-01-2005 at 00:16. |

Re: Placing Tetras out of bounds
If you remove their tetra from a contained goal, then pick it up and place it outside the playing area, you prevent the opposite team from using that tetra. They could put it back in place, or perhaps pick it up and stack it. keeping them from getting back an extra point or three (or possible one needed for a row) could be a good defense.
