We are trying to find the best balance between turning and carpet grip(pushing power).

Well, the thing about treads is that they only apply force to the carpet where the pulley (wheel the drives the tread) is pushing the tread into the ground. In essence, a tread design with 4 pulleys total would have the same contact with the ground as a 4wd bot (given that wheel size and pulley size are equal).
