Re: Motor Rules

I won't bother looking up the rule at the moment, but you're limited to the number of motors provided in your kit and listed on the kit parts checklist. Thus, you may have up to 4 Chiaphua motors on your robot, etc. you're not allowed to buy extra motors and put those on your robot as well.

Aside from this, you're only limited by the space, control, and power requirements of the motors.

Re: Motor Rules

From memory:
4 CIM motors (Chiaphua motors to me) 300+ Watts
2 Fisher Price motor/transmissions 400+ Watts (But not likely to survive long if you actually USE 400Watts)
1 PSD motor about 60 Watts
1 Mabuchi motor about 7 Watts
1 Globe Motor about 50 Watts
1 Denso Window Motor guessing about 20-30 Watts
1 Jideco Window Motor again, guessing about 20-30 Watts
11 motors TOTAL

+ As many Hitec 322 Servos as you can account for.

Joe J.

P.S. I do not have the time, but I wish SOMEONE would make a chart of the following data at 12V: Freespeed, Stall Torque, Stall Current, Peak Power
FYI: Peak Power = Stall Torque (N-m) * Free Speed (RPM) / 38 (Rev - sec / Radian - Min)

Please please please.... ...I've got some positive reputation points for you if you do ;-)...

See page 7 of the "Guidelines" document from the Documents/Rules section on the FIRST web site.

Do I get the rep points for pointing to the answer?

Working on one as I speak

edit: Dave is the man

double edit: just looking at the section of the chart for the Mabuchi motor, FIRST's chart shows stall current at 3.6 amps while the actual Mabuchi spec sheet shows it at 5.2 amps

If you don't want to open up the .pdf file each time, I've made the motor chart available here.

Re: Motor Rules

of course, you might want to think about buying extra motors just in case some blow out at competition
