Clarification: '04 RC Firmare update.

Ok, I've been reading around on innovation first, throughout the forums, and through many a pdf document, in search of some sort of clarification about the usage of the 2004 robot controller.

Assuming you download the new ('05) master code to your 2004 robot controller, can you use the 2004 OI? If not, can I download last years master code (firmware) so that I can use my old software later?

Our team wants a working robot to test our new code on, and we've got the robot for it, but if we can't use last year's OI, or last years code on a later date, we're less inclined to do it.

Thanks,
Joe

Joe,

Your OI must be connected to your RC and both are updated with the new master code.

I know of no reason why you cannot run last year's code on this year's system or vice versa.

However, to compete, you must have this year's Master code loaded into your controller. Using last year's Master code is not an option.

Re: Clarification: '04 RC Firmare update.

You do not need to update the master code on the '04 RC to use user code from this year. It *may* be needed for the camera, but I doubt it. We've been running this years user code on last years master code, with no problems

Re: Clarification: '04 RC Firmare update.

So if I want to test code for this year (camera code included) on our bot from last year all I have to do is download the new master code to it? Because I did that and its still acting funny.... Then again I have no idea how to program, but the program thats acting funny is a program I wrote . Maybe thats the problem! *Opens up MPLAB and gets ready to spend another six hours staring at the screen*
