questions about the servos

My team has some confusion, and we would appreciate any and all answers on the following questions:

1) Can the servo's gearbox be modified?
2) can PWM cables be modified, such as spliting the cable and adding an extension of wire?

By my interpretation of the rules:

(1) No.
(2) Yes.

However, you might want to post (1) to FIRST for an official reply...
