The Promote-Your-Engineering-University Thread
So, I'm in the midst of the college search. And I want to be an engineering major. And I know all these names, places, and possible things to do.
However, what I'd like to hear is what makes your university unique. As a resident of w. Lafayette, I know more about the college town and its schools than its website can tell you, for example, as far as real life. Having searched around for a real experineces thread, I figured now is a good a time as any ![]() Thanks, Genia |

Re: The Promote-Your-Engineering-University Thread
Kokomo has IUK/PUK which has Purdue classes here at IUK.(Indiana University Kokomo) We also have IVY tech which is a school that has technical classes you can take to get a degree in computer oriented and technical areas.(Engineering is not one, at least not yet) But for Genia, I would tell ya to look at MSU and Michigan, I have heard those two university's are pretty good. I will need to remember this thread because I kick-off my college search in about a year!

Re: The Promote-Your-Engineering-University Thread
One thing you wouldn't learn about on a campus tour: there's a place on Northeastern's campus that I call "the magic spot." When you stand on the center brick of the quad area and face Churchill hall, due to the placement of the buildings, when you talk, you can hear an extreme echo, but no one else can. It's pretty cool.
...and, you know, the co-op program is great because you can have real-life experience and you'll have a really great resume upon graduation. AND you can make sure you like what you're majoring in before you spend lots and lots of money on your education. Also, location! There are over a hundred colleges and universities in the Boston/Cambridge area; every September, hundreds of thousands of college students flock in from all over the world. It's a great place, and Northeastern University is right in the middle of it. |

I tried to look up the creator of that man-made echo business, but to no avail. I need to refine my search terms, unless someone else can find the answer first. I need to know! |

Re: The Promote-Your-Engineering-University Thread
I tried looking it up as well, and couldn't find it, i'm sure i can find out if i ask around.
Its not like its out in the middle of nowhere, its right in the middle of campus behind the student memorial union, but there are some small man made hills that surround a brick circle. |

Re: The Promote-Your-Engineering-University Thread
Northeastern rocks for many reasons:
Quote:
Clubs: In addition to FIRST, I thoroughly enjoy our outdoors club called NUHOC. I hike in the Mt. Washington area all the time, rock climb, ice climb, kayak, SCUBA dive, go backpacking, downhill skiing, x-country skiing, and we sled down ski slopes when we can't afford skis or lift tickets (I'm also thinking of starting a Flight Club next year for hang-gliding & para-gliding, it's a work-in-progress). The #1 reason I love Northeastern???? They let me do the Beantown Blitz! Ok that's enough for now... (pssst: they are pretty good with financial aid/scholarships too ) |
