Woo-Hoo.

Katie is now a Michigander. It's a proud and reputable thing. We even have our own speak - and we love it!

But I shop at Wal-Mart. Rember the bins of 2003? Where do you think I got ALL of them at? Their prices are good - and the one over here in the Taylor area is kept really clean/decent people/and the asles are bigger. Now K-Mart - I'll never go in there. Rude, not clean, just all-around bad.

Not that I'd know; the K-Mart in my town closed two years ago because of Super Wal-Mart. Of course, it also broke up Dillions' monopoly on groceries, so nobody really misses K-Mart.

Haha, I was born in and lived in Michigan 'til I was 7 ... Not only do we have "Michigan speak" up here (from all the trolls ) we have "Yooper speak" as well!! ((And no matter how long I live in Michigan, it'll still be soda, not pop!!!!)) We're using a whole week in my Language & Society class to talk about the differences in speech between Lower Michigan, the UP and Wisconsin.

Same here!! I had bad K-Mart experiences when I was a kid. The K-Mart (in Midland, MI) was so gross and dirty ... ew. Then, we moved to Appleton, WI and had dirty K-marts; they all closed 5 years after we moved. Now, I won't shop there (though my mom swears that the K-Marts in Brookfield, WI are clean!!)

Re: Walmart

Dude, it all depends on the store itself, for example, Wal-mart at point A is crappy (can i say that?) and dirty etc., but the Wal-mart at point B is perfectly clean & fine.
(personally, I'd take target though, my local wal-mart kinda sucks) (can i say that?)

Re: Walmart

The nearest Target is maybe an hour away from me. I normally shop at K-mart because it's the closest, but I will shop at Walmart just because of their low prices if I'm in the area. I don't really care much for Walmart's business practices, but cheap is cheap. And I always get stuck in the ultra-short line right behind the lady who has forgotten how to write a check for $0.76.

Because Walmart, like other stores, only has minimal staff coverage on the checkout lines.

I seriously do not know why they make a store with so many checkout lines (re: 15-20) if they only have 3 of them open.

What is the point of that??

As for the question at hand, yes.. I do shop there, because simply put, I am a consumer and I look for places with the lowest prices.

Whether or not the way they have the lowest prices is legal, or even moral, is yet to be seen, but if it is illegal in the way they acquire products, and sell them, then in the end they will end up like the other stores like Ames, Caldor's and Bradlees.. and just be another empty building.

(And I liked Ames... )
But in truth, all the stores have their faults. Target is overpriced for most stuff, K-Mart has lots of good stuff but also lots of junk, and Walmart has bad business practices.

But, you know what.. I don't care. I just like most of the rest of the selfish consumers that we all are, just care about getting something for a lower price, and having that item available to me at my convenience and at a close place to my commute.
And I have shopped at all three at one time or another..

I have already mentioned tha tI shop at walmart. I can find what I'm looking for there and it is cheap (I am also a college student). But I have not experienced long lines at any point. The longest it has ever taken me to get through the checkout at walmart is probably 3 minutes. 15-20 check out lines is a lot? Most of the stores like walmart, k-mart, target, grocery stores, etc. that I know of (especially back home) have at least 15 check out lines. If I go into a store of that nature and see fewer than 15 checkout lines I would be suprised.

Re: Walmart

when you say "its ok I would rather shop at the BIG Names", I am woundering what you mean.
Because Walmart has the most income of any company... Thats why there are several people in the walmart family that are all billionaires... if you add up their total amount of money I believe its more that gates has.
