Re: Walmart
Walmart is taking over the world, one city at a time.
Within 50 years, the Waltons will hold a dictatorship over the entire United States with their army of Walmart greeters and cashiers. To put it nicely - I only go to Walmart when I am forced to go ![]() |

Re: Walmart
I absolutely hate Walmart. All I have to say is that if you own a small business and you shop at Walmart... You are shopping yourself right out of business.

Re: Walmart
So, I'm gonna be honest here, and say I really don't know much about Walmart's business practices. I go there when I need cheap, fast stuff. Most everything important I can buy online, and I see their clothes as bad quality.
But random stuff? Yah, that's not hard. I'd like to point out, that as far as I know, Walmart is far from the only store in America or anywhere else with shady business practices. |

Re: Walmart
I don't shop at Wal-Mart often, since they usually don't have a lot of stuff I want...that and Home Depot is closer to me.

Re: Walmart
I hate walmart.
It stifles local business (and I feel this directly working at a small independent toy store next door to walmart). They treat employees worse then thier customers do. As a result, their employees are apathetic and usally unhelpful. They have messy displays, cheap product, worthless customer service and poor store layout. If my store were as bad as that, we would be out of buisness in weeks. But... I shop there sometimes. I work store hours, and when I'm not working, Walmart is often the only open place that will have what I need. I would love it if I had the time to drive from small store to small store during the day. I really would. But, at the end of a long day helping people shop, the last thing I want to do is spend a lot of time shopping. Walmart is cheap and close by. It didn't become the largest retailer in the world by underpaying it's staff alone. -Andy A. |

Re: Walmart
I prefer NOT toshop at Wal-mart for previously stated reasons refering to shady business dealings, forcing smaller buisinesses to close etc, etc. You get the idea. On the rare occasion I have shopped in there it has been very difficult for me. I have had problems with nearly everything I have purchased there, the price of something typically reflects the quality. Also, I see Targhetto, as a "preppy" Wal-mart. It is full of overpriced Wal-mart items to me. I know it's insane but I would prefer to go to a nicer store with nicer items and as a result of the nicer atmosphere I don'thave a problem paying a little bit more for something. Think about it this way, there are other stores that are HUGE and don't sacrifice their "souls" to be that way why support the ones that do? I can relate to the being broke and needing stuff so I prioritize, what do I have to have to survive and what can I wait to buy. My needs are fairly limited so that is a bonus for me, I've learned to live fairly minimally and it's great. Plus there's the whole karma deal...

Re: Walmart
I just find it ironic that Sam Walton found a way to make money selling to small businesses with one store (Sam's Club) while at the same time running them out of business with another (Wal-Mart). I don't see why they feel a need to eliminate their competition by forcing them out of business. There is a Wal-Mart near my parents' house in South Windsor, CT and it seems to coexist very happily with a Target, a Best Buy and a sizable mall. There seems to be more than enough business for all of them, so why can't other Wal-Marts handle competing with a few small businesses?
My $0.02, not meant to be offensive to anyone. |
