Quick 3ds max problm and question

In 3ds max when I want to move/scale/rotate an object none of the "arrows" are there to grab. I must have accidentally changed something. Could someone help me please? This is critical.
Thanks,
Budda

Go to customize on the menu bar, then preferences, then click on the Gizmos tab and make sure the box that in the top left hand side that says "on" is checked.

Re: Quick 3ds max problm and question

Huh... now that I've got that fixed I found another problem. I might as well make this my official 3ds max problem thread.

Here it is...
When animation our robot, the mast and arm totally disappear somehow, or they randomly move to different places. This has caused me much frustration as I have been working on this problem since 10 am. I need some help on this. I want the mast to go up and then rotate then go back down again but I just don't know how to fix this problem it is so annoying.

Thanks in advance,
Budda

You may have SNAPs on; you can turn it off by pressing the default shortcut 'S'. If that doesn't fix the problem, you can try re-centering the pivot, which can be done by going to the Hierarchy Tab > Affect Pivot Only > Center to Object. Or Reset Pivot.

Re: Quick 3ds max problm and question

One mistake I make is that I move an object while the animate, or auto key (depending on the version), button is on when I don't want to animate it. If you select an object, you can see the 'keys' on the time slider. By right clicking on them, you can see what they are changing. You can move them and delete them as you want. Still not working right, there should be an animation curve editor tab near the time slider. Open that and select you part from the long list. There should be X,Y,Z and rotation lines. Select the offending movement and adjust the curve accordingly. Though, getting it right this way is hard. Try the other ways first.
