Is the tape to hide something or just to be a temp holder for that other thingie?*

I'm not sure what it is but it looks like it is used with a motor shaft i think.

*thingie-noun any technical term that cant be defined late at night.

Looks a lot like a through haul bearing possible was once as water tight as you can amagine a spinning shaft could be but it is welded to another piece of metal its supposed to be round notice the weld line and as the tape w/e.

It looks like a bearing for some sort of telescoping slide or something of that nature.
