Re: Coolest 'Bot Carts

Your cart is awsome team 548. Never even knew you had speakers i nthe back. Total of 10 speakers and 2 subs thats amazing. Whoever did the fiberglass they did a great job. Having the amp recessed and capacitors recessed. Do you guys have any problems pushing that thing around seeing as its soo long and probably heavy? Ever think about putting motors on it. We're putting motors on ours. people ask us bout having to run to a match quick. That's easily solved. We are going to have it so you can loosedn up a couple screws and slide the motors back sp you can push it really fast. krhs_programmer said something about being in your cart while drivingit. I was thinking about that also. But there's that extra weight then that puts strain on the motors. and also then you have the people (like me) that would want to just take it for a spin around the pits! I still have to say that team 548 made an Outstanding cart. I hope i can talk to you guys about it at nats.

Hey thanks for the comments Yeah we're pretty proud of our cart, it's our team icon and our team is notorious for it. Last year, the goal between regionals and nationals was to make it self-propelled but we ran into a time crunch and had other priorities to tend to. (As for the music, where do you think the rule came from? )

It is heavy, but with the heart our team has for the cart, it is never really left to one person to move it around or guard it or anything. What I didn't mention was that it has a "horn" (people hate when we honk it) so it's never really "in the way"...

We can't really ride in it, but Matt, the student who did the fiberglass, was standing on the pneumatics last year riding it up and down while we were showing it off at the Great Lakes Regional. I have seen carts that look like small cars that kids drive around in.

Two years ago, our cart had a fog machine (where do you think the rule came from? ) and when we used it, the FIRST people came out with fire extinguishers.

Yeah that's all I can really think of.

Re: Coolest 'Bot Carts

yeah...uh...our team just used a wooden dolly that we got at home depot for moving furniture. Lame-o. This year we're upgrading to an actual cart, but we haven't figured that out yet. Our team is too busy building the ROBOT!
Anyway, by far the coolest cart I saw last year was one team that had a big 80-20 cart with pneumatic wheels, neon lights, and big honkin' speakers and one of those glowing car radios. They used a battery like for the robot. It was so cool.

Re: Coolest 'Bot Carts

Yeah seconding Liz...we seem to forget our cart all the time. maybe we'll tie a piece of string around our head mentor's finger this year...but who needs a cart? we had no problem lifting the robot onto the field...though this could be harder at nats...

Re: Coolest 'Bot Carts

This year our cart is pretty cool. Now, it's got nothing on the carts by Truck Town Thunder, but, we've found a away to fuse our ship crate with our cart, thus, hitting the 2 perverbial birds with 1 perverbial stone. I've got picks of it in a thread in the crate section of 2005 if anyone wants to see.

I am done finished with my robot cart and tool shipping crate. Done with paint, reconnected the electronics and was doing donuts in the school parking lot during my engineering class.

Re: Coolest 'Bot Carts

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but i have to talk about our cart. It is only me and one of my friends building this years cart and it is all our own funding and using old parts. Last year we had 2 subs and a nice stereo, but didnt look that great. This year we have the subs on exposed behind lexan, the amp and robot controls exposed behind lexan. We'll also have 2 10" neons and 1 18" neon both are connected to a music interface to go w/ the beat of the music. We are using to cim motors to power it. 1 on each wheel. It'll be tethered. We will also have 4 6x9 speakers amplifier, Headunit, and DVDplayer and 7" screen. We were thinking about using a scissor lift powered by pnumatis but we thought it would be too dangerous to have a 130 pound robot lifted 4 ft in the air using pnumatics. It'd be bad if something failed and the robot came smashing down. Last year at nationals you could proabably hear us playing our music, Im sure it got annoying. We were still nothing compared to that thunder team, but we also arent sponsored by blaupunkt and streetglow. I have to say that cart was amazing though. Come see our cart this year in team 930s pit in chicago and NAtionals. Or u could just stay in your pit and listen

Re: Coolest 'Bot Carts

45 will be unavailing a new cart at the Boilermaker Regional. It sure is a lot better then our cart from previous years. It was just a 4 wheeled, plain cart. Now we have 4 tool drawers, extra shelves and a pretty awesome steering system. It is more geared towards eliminations, it is a full pit, just scaled down to the bare necessities. Ofcourse, a cool powdercoat job always adds a nice touch.

Re: Coolest 'Bot Carts

Truck town thunder had a sweet cart in Houston. Definitely wish I had the time to come up with something like that. Very cool setup indeed. Although I have seen a lot of cool carts, theres seemed the most original, although I've only been doing this for 4 years and I'm sure others have come up with equally cool carts.

Re: Coolest 'Bot Carts

I was wondering if anyone had pictures of Truck town thunder's last years cart? Also I was hoping to see some pics of their cart this year if there are any. I hope they built an awsome cart this year and are going to nationals, I would really like to see it. Also If anyone can answer these please do so. On their cart last year what kind of battery did they use, and how'd they keep it from going dead so fast, since they had all the stuff on it? Also i was wondering if they were worried at all about leaving all the stuff in their cart throughout the night at regionals and nationals. Or did they take it with them for safe keeping?
