Re: Why are you teamless?
I am not currently involved with a team. I was moderately involved with 116 last year, but this year I am now at VCU in Richmond, without a car. I would be mentoring a team in the spring, but I ran out of credits.
(For those of you looking at colleges, ENG 472 at VCU is mentoring a FIRST team, not major dependent and no prereqs) I am working on making contacts to work at the regional level, and will be volunteering at VCU, and likely The Championship. Wetzel |

Re: Why are you teamless?
Again revisiting the map of high schools in Seattle, I've found that there is another team that's accessible to me by transit and it's only about 20 minutes commute. That's actually less than the time it took to get to meetings last season, despite the location being twice as far away.
The proverbial wrench is, of course, that the team has no website and seemingly no registered members here on CD.com. So, would anyone be willing to access TIMS for me and find contact information for team 488 -- Franklin HS & Microsoft Corp.? PM me with anything you find, please. Thanks a bunch. There's hope yet that I'll be overworked and underappreciated this winter ![]() |

I have found other ways to serve FIRST. I independently scout for any teams that host me. I don't really like to be part of a team. I was on a team for about 5 years. Good years too I may add. I have never forgotten a day I served lol! Now a days, I am moving away from computer programming and consulting to having a larger involvement in FIRST! Judging may be up my alley soon!

Re: Why are you teamless?
Like others have said.... I am a first year college student and am kinda burnt out from leading my team and doing all of the fundraising for two years. I am focusing on my school work and also working. Though I am not associated with a team, I will be working at (and bring friends) to both the LA and the PNW Regionals.

Re: Why are you teamless?
Top 10 Reason’s why I’m still teamless:
#10 Been there, done that! #9 Fear of commitment? #8 I like to play the field... at the regional #7 I got tired of eating pizza every night. #6 Now I serve a higher order (in Manchester) #5 Not enough room to put all the team numbers #4 My FLL team number kept changing! #3 Zeros are really Heroes!!!! #2 I Serve all FIRST teams and the #1 I try to maintain an unbiased role in NYC area (I tend to get silly at 1:30AM)Last edited by Rich Wong : 02-12-2004 at 12:42. |

I'll likely be in Portland and perhaps Atlanta, if I can get the planning done soon enough. Maybe I'll stop by UW and take a gander at what you're dreaming up, even. I'll be all covert and spy like or something. |

Re: Why are you teamless?
I was involved with FIRST last year as a volunteer, and by association with Wetzel and tkwetzel was dragged (willingly) to many meetings of team 116. I had signed up to volunteer at VCU, but drove as sick boy to the hospital instead (Yay noro virus!). Instead I arranged to help at the Chesapeak Regional doing practice field supervision, safety, etc.
This yeah I'm mentoring team 1033, Benedictine and St. Gertrude High Schools. It is interesting (I just went to my first meeting on sunday), and none of the students or engineers have CD accounts or really keep on top of updates, etc. So that's my job. ![]() I am no longer teamless, and I mentor because I wish my high school had had FIRST. Re: Why are you teamless?
I was on team 1212 last year and I had a blast. I still talk to team 1212 but i am 1200 miles away now. I am at Kansas State University and there is not a lot of teams around that I could help with. So I will be a long distance helper for team 1212 but I am still considered with out a team.

Re: Why are you teamless?
I was on team #350 during high school, and now I'm at UMAINE trying to start a team up here. Although I still communicate with 350 and give them help when they ask me for it, I'm not really on the team (I'm a long distance helper like Matt ^). Hopefully by December of this year I'll have a new team number to put on my CD profile.

Re: Why are you teamless?
Pure choice.
I wanted to do more than just a FIRST team my freshman year of college...so far I'm involved heavily in a community service group on campus and currently pledging for a sorority on top of having a job. I'm planning on volunteering at BAE, UTC and the championship though. I recently discovered there are a couple new teams in the area, so next year I may go over to help them out when I get some time. |

Re: Why are you teamless?
Other than when I was living at home on my first co-op and needed something to do to stay sane, I haven't had time to mentor a team since I came to college. But I've volunteered at least the Philly Regional and some years the VCU regional as well, plus I've been a judge at FLL tournaments, and I founded the Drexel FIRST Robotics club (thus pairing other Drexel students up with teams to mentor). So I'm teamless in that I more do stuff for FIRST in general than one team. Though I am still on my old teams email list....
