Where are you from? You can search for teams in your area at http://www.usfirst.org/robotics/ click on the map on the right side. If your in New Jersey I got some people that could help you out.

Our team, Team 980, in the Los Angeles area accepts students from schools that don't have teams, as does Team 254 in the San Jose area.

So hunt around and find a team nearby where you can help out. Then at some point, you may want to try starting a team at your school.
