Ahh young grasshopper... good question.

For our viewers at home:
The tread material we're using wears down during continual usage.
We will need to swap out and replace old treads probably once a regional.

Or... because of our design, we may just "rotate the tires".
Can any of you budding young designers figure out why?

Because you'll have a 6WD bot with the 4 corners having a bit less wear than the center wheels, since they're lowered?

I also don't think that you will have perfect weight distribution and the tread that has more weight on it will wear down faster than treads with less weight on them.

the one on the right looks much more professional. the one on the left just looks drilled for lightening. i would say the one on the right, although i'm not a big fan of gold.

Re: pic: 229 "Bling" for 2005

So these are the wheels alekat wus talking bout... lol.... NICE! i like the one on the left more industrial looking... this year we had our first custom wheels
we were going to mill ours out of a rod but due to cost issues.... we made 2 piece rims... we milled the outer rims frome pipe and had the center spokes waterjetted pretty sweet although we can't beat the level of blingosity established by yours

Re: pic: 229 "Bling" for 2005

I would almost say that the outer 4 wheels will require more frequent tread replacement as the center two are less likely to slip. I assume the tread wears more rapidly with slipping side forces.

I actually like the one on the left, they remind me of 258's wheels.

From a list of "Murphy's Laws of Robotics" I put together from random quotes gathered from the net, this one seems most suiting:

Hey John!

Where are the SpreeWheels? You gotta get the spinners if you really wanna flash some Bling Bling out there!

Nice job by the way... I may have to leave a couple of cinder blocks under your bot in exchange for those after the competitions.
