What's wrong with Moe sticks is that they make noise. I was sitting behind Moe during opening ceremonies on Saturday and was just about to maul one of them when an angel in a green jersey handed me a pair of earplugs. Only problem with the earplugs was that i had to take them out whenever someone wanted to talk to me. I could hear people around me plainly, but apparently being encased in a bubble of silence made me speak too quietly to be understood.

Gar, i hate noisemakers.

Anyone else with a similar observation?

I think you can tell a lot about people from their eyes, which is why it bothers me to an extreme when people wear sunglasses. If it's a sunny day, you can be forgiven, but indoors on a cloudy day you have absolutely no excuse for wearing dark glasses.

Just for the record, my only only experiance this year with the <shudder> banging sticks was at the J&J Midatlantic regional: so I wasnt mentioning MOE in particular - just so I don't get anyone upset.

My own team was guilty of this crime, some parent brought in these noise sticks, . (yet another reason why parental involvment can be evil, the other is a great story from 2001)
and of course the freshmen starting hitting eachother and clapping with them, randomly.

Luckily some team was handing them out at their pits - for all rookie teams: if you want to make a lot of friends, hand out earplugs: its a sign of friendnship and comraderie that will not be forgotten!

Getting back to the point:

When people wear sunglasses or hats low over their faces indoors, I get the impression they have something to hide --not a positive effect (i guess thats one more tip)

Anyone else?

You mean you don't wear them indoors, with a tough-guy look, black leather jacket, and an attitude??

Good, that makes a good impression, i think...

Another reason eyes are important: drug users and alchoholics have weird eyes - just another reason to give them a look.

I think they do tell a lot about a person, i cant quite disscribe it - call it a sixth sense, if you will, but eyes are very telling - there is much to see inside someone's eyes.

Eyes are important...there has to be some sort of connection between the two people in their eyes for me at least...

I have to agree with you ben about druggies and heavy drinkers eyes....they seem like they aren't really there...

I agree, the eyes are important...

You would think that lots of people feel they are important, think of all those movie scenes where they show the 2 people looking deep into each others eyes...

When lovers look into each others eyes, they are looking to see instinctively, (relax ladies and gentlemen ) if the others' eyes have large pupils.

It is instinctive for the eyes to attain that quality, in that.. ahem...state. Something to do with hormones and oxygen

So there is some science behind it, not just spirituality and romance.

Of course, the last two are probably the most applicable and who cares about science, anyway (at least in that situation)

Yeah, that too.

To everyone out there: Don't do drugs or drink a lot, all it does is poison your mind, bury your future, and destroy any hopes you might have had. No matter how much despair and hopelessness consumes the world around you, never turn to a pill or a bottle to do what love, conviction, and a passion for life are supposed to do.

Never do drugs, look at wildflowers instead. They're much prettier, and rise from their ashes every spring. Drug use and alcoholism is just ash...no want, no love, no life, no warmth, just endless darkness, wandering for another hit, making it through a day looking for another hit just to make it through a day...it isn’t a life, it isn’t the blissful release of death. It’s a nightmare inbetween, each being denied.

I am not an addict, and never was, but I can tell you: Don't do it! You're worth too much to the world to defile yourself. Think of all the emotions: love, pride, affection, that will be gone, replaced by the lust for some chemical.

There are other things to do to pass the time, until things become better. There are people that care. I am one of them, as are many others. Don’t do it, don’t associate with people that do. They aren’t your friends if they want to put their poisons into your veins. Don’t let them.

Sorry, I got a bit swept away, but it is serious, not just a imaginary fear of an ideal world. It is a problem all of us must face, at some point.

But you don’t have to face it alone, that the idea I’m trying to say.

A great way to get girls, guys, significant others, friends, whatever, is to stay clean - in all respects.

(Sorry if that was a bit depressing)
