Will the goals move

Do any of you all know how easily the goals will move. I am kind of worried that after placing a tetra on the goal, the goal might easily move, or if we run into the goal that it might move. Will they be bolted down

Re: Will the goals move

At the skrimage I just went to, they were securely down with velcro and didn't move, and quite a few robots (including ours) hit them rather hard. I wouldn't worry about them moving too much

Re: Will the goals move

However, at the UTC scrimmage, a robot was placing a tetra on the center goal when it's gripper became tangled between the tetra it just put on and the tetra below it, when they tried to back away I saw the center goal's base lift a little. They can take a hit, but they arent impossible to dislodge.

Re: Will the goals move

one of the team updates, if i am not mistaken, involved putting a plate onto the ground of the center goal which (as i understand it) is completely velcroed to the ground. When i was watching the scrimmage broadcast, I couldnt really see if they built their field like that, and even then, it barely moved.

Re: Will the goals move

A practice solution we've discovered - if you cut small holes in the carpet and slide a zip tie through and around each leg of a goal, it does a decent job of holding it in place. Of course, this is not a good solution for those using permanent carpet.

Re: Will the goals move

Yep, they're velcroed down.

And it takes me (a relatively full-grown guy) a rather serious grunt to tip it on the side. A robot could do it, but a driver with the proverbial two brain cells will probably not be able to do it.

Why do that? If the goals aren't going to be secured that way in competition, what's the point of doing that for your practice field?

Isn't it better to let the drivers deal with exaggerated goal movement to teach them not to hit the goals at all in competition?

Re: Will the goals move

Thought this might be of some iterest to those who were easily able to move the goals ...

<G20> ROBOTS may push or react against any elements of the field, provided there is no damage or disruption of the field elements. ROBOTS may not grab, grasp, grapple or attach to the GOALS or any other field structure. Robots may not extend under, lift up or tip over a GOAL. If a ROBOT violates this rule, the referee will give one warning. If the referee determines that the team is disregarding the warning, or the actions affect the outcome of the match, the team’s ROBOT will be disabled for the remainder of the match. If a GOAL is tipped over, it is automatically OWNED by the opposing alliance for the remainder of the match.

Re: Will the goals move

so it is possible to move the goals but ur not supposed to eh. the goals shouldnt move when you put the tetras on it because they are fastened down, only if u use your robot to push it accidentally or something it might move...

Center goal has a piece of plate on the whole bottom of the base, as seen in this picture.

Side Tetra Goals, and those nearest to the players stations, have only velcro on the legs.
