What did everyone think of the skrimage in Washington DC?
Just wondering what everyone thought of the skrimage that was held today in Washington, as a rookie team, I felt we got a great grasp on exactly what we need to do to improve our robot
For those of you there, I was the one with aviators and carrying around our spiffy OI enclosure |

Re: What did everyone think of the skrimage in Washington DC?
With my team we really couldn't tell. We only got to run twice and the first time the joysticks were messed up and the second time we couldn't hold pressure in the pneumatics. the other times we tried to run the robot did its auto and was dead for the match due to some technical issues with either our robot or the playing field.
Over all it was pretty cool, I we got to see some of the ideas we were brainstorming in the early weeks of the build with the fork lift and the different types of tetra manipulators. WOOOO HOOOOO 1,000th POST Last edited by Bcahn836 : 20-02-2005 at 09:34. |

Re: What did everyone think of the skrimage in Washington DC?
They don't count any of the matches, Greg. It's all just practice and good fun. Our team ended up busting our plexiglass bumper. Good ol' Nate...nice driving. >_<; but we got it fixed and we did quite well. Shocked me a little, considering last year our 'bot didn't do so hot.
I've been to the scrimmage in D.C. twice now, and I love it! It's a great time to see the game before competition and test out the robot your team has built in 5 1/2 weeks before shipping. It's very helpful and we're quite lucky to have gotten the chance. Thanks to the good ol' crew for arranging the scrimmage once again! You never disappoint. |

Informative in two ways.
1. Gave me a good idea of where my team, who sent people to scout, where we stand. 2. Gave me time to get information to begin possible team combinations and how the combos could affect our game plans. On a personal note: I was slightly surprised that many teams were so far behind. |

Re: What did everyone think of the skrimage in Washington DC?
You know JosephM, with that many posts, I'm kinda surprised you haven't learned to read them yet. Mine clearly says what everyone THOUGHT of of the scrimage (apparently I spelled it wrong haha) the one you've linked is who all is going, or maybe I forgot how to read?
Also wanted to say at the DC scrimage we learned our robot was able to top the center tetra with bombadier and myself at the wheel(with another already on it), how's Sparky doing? You guys gonna fix that before VCU? |

Yes our arm is fine. We had it working fine at the end. We were even able to cap 6 in one of the matches after we fixed it.

Re: What did everyone think of the skrimage in Washington DC?
I was really impressed by the team that had a vision system to detect the yellow triangles in the goals. They had proximity sensor at the bottom of the robot to detect when they were up against the goal, and used the vision system to determine if they were squared up on it. They got six high on the center goal in one match. I also enjoy getting to visit with some people I haven't seen in a while like Dee, Rob, and my team that I haven't seen since Jan 15.

Re: What did everyone think of the skrimage in Washington DC?
I'm trying to figure out which teams had which robots. Does anyone know which team had that arm with the elavtor type device, that tilted forward and back. It's front wheels were also solid plastic and were not used to drive if that helps. Also, which team had the arm with the ball on the end, that capped the tetra in autonomous but fell over a lot?
