audio quality?

Since I submitted my animation in AVI, and FIRST will convert it into .mov for judging, are they going to convert the audio into 32000 kHz , because the audio for my animation was 44100 kHz and changing it to 32000 kHz causes a lot of static and distortion. (32000 kHz seems to be the default setting for stuff)
