uncrating.

I noticed in the rule book only 3 people per team to uncrate the robot. Does that include the safety captain if they are down there? Just need to know so we can tell who to go down there and start uncrating.

Re: uncrating.

WEll last year it was to prevent crowding in the pits. They only let 3 people in for about 30 min to get the robot and supplies out of the crate and to close the crate so they could take it away. From what i remember it was only 3 people. 1 mentor 2 students i am pretty sure

From what I know, they allowed 3 members of the team to get in the pit half an hour ago before the pit opened. But it depended on the team to decide if all of them who are going in are going to be students or mentors.

Re: uncrating.

As long as is three people, it doesn't matter who they are. Although that was last year.

Re: uncrating.

Three people, any three people. rember that during the uncrating you will need drills and what ever else to get the robot out of its box. If you can take the robot cart so you can have it set on it, if they let you bring it in. Also take in tools to start to work or but the bot back together after shipping.

Re: uncrating.

Do teams have to send in 3 members to uncrate early? Or can the whole team just arrive at the normal pit opening time?

No, you do not have to send in three members before normal opening time. However, by not doing so, you a) add to the traffic problem with everyone standing in and around the pit, b) have less time to uncrate and test the robot before the first practice match, and c) make things harder on the guys who haul the crates away. There may be more reasons not to as well, these are just the ones I thought of.

Re: uncrating.

You do not have to send in anyone early, but it really helps with crowd movement and makes the job of the crate movers much easier and safer.

It is just much easier to get the robot out of the crate and moved into your pit before all of the teams are in the area.

Once 20 - 30 people from each team come in, it is much tougher to move around, and it is more difficult for you to uncrate your robot, and for the crews to move around.

If you have three that can go in early, it benefits everyone.
