Talking Re: Have you named your robot?

Team 1598 named ours Talon to kind of go along with our school mascot. I dont really mind cause it looks really cool on the side of the robot.

Hey everyone, this is Melanie from Aces High 176, just registered on here.
Well we named our robot P.G.B.I.F. (probably gonna burst into flames) it's a name we've had for awhile but has never gotten picked till now. so we hope P.G.B.I.F. will be good to us this year an not burst into flames..haha
well nice seeing the website..looks good..catcha later.

Re: Have you named your robot?

every year except for 2001, our robot has had a different name, in 2002 it was black beauty (it was covered in black lexan), 2003 it was jawz, 2004 we named it rio and this year we have not figured out a name for the bot

Re: Have you named your robot?

We've been arguing it out for 4 weeks... Currently we're split into 2 camps:

The main camp is currently gunning for "Alter Ericius ut est Furtim" which translates from Latin to English as the "Second Hedgehog Which is Stealthy", a tip of the hat to Stealth Hedgehog, which was our robot a couple of years ago.

The other camp wants a reference to united in the name, which is currently being bashed down due to it being led by Manchester United and Cambridge United fans.

Re: Have you named your robot?

today, we had a team meeting while waiting for the fed-ex guy to show up. after several stupid sleep-deprived suggestions (about 10 people spent the night finishing the robot), we decided to name it "Kara," our engineer's daughter's name. i think she's about four years old. She hangs out with our team and was at the lab yesterday and today.

Re: Have you named your robot?

Our robot's name is 'Crossbow'. The arm kinda looks like it and we were kinda looking for something to tie into our Ammoknights feel.

Re: Have you named your robot?

Ours shall be called the "Sad Walrus" because they tried to make some Sabre jaws for the front but in my opinion it looks like a sad walrus instead... anyways it says Sad Walrus all over the inside of the crate so there isn't any other name! Buahaha!

Re: Have you named your robot?

well i missed the day we voted for the robot and i really didnt like the outcome but w/e. we, i mean they, decided to call the robot S.O.S., which is usually a distress call. But for this it stands for son of shazbot, one of our earlier robots. I just have a feeling it is going to haunt us during the competition.

We now seem to be going for "Eric", short for "Ericius", which translates from Latin as "Hedgehog". No one has objected to it... yet.

Re: Have you named your robot?

Well yes, Denman, that is implied by the translation... Eric the Hedgehog is more of an affectionate term, but officially it looks like being Ericius...

If you follow? If you don't, ask Raven.
