2005 and 2003 "Super Game"?

I was just laying in bed thinking last night, and what if the 2003 and 2005 games were combined? Instead of boxes, tetras would be stacked on the 2003 center ramp. The scoring zones from 2003 would be replaced with the three small goals of this year across each end of the field. The bar on the sides of the 2003 ramp would be raised to...say....26 inches, and there would be a bonus for being king of the hill, just like in 2003.

I think that would be an amazing game because there would be all the action of the king of the hill matches of 2003 AND offense would be more prominent because stacking a tetra on a goal, in my opinion, is easier than making a stack of boxes.

Not that it would ever happen, but think of how cool it would be!

Re: 2005 and 2003 "Super Game"?

I was just thinking of the similarity the other day- the fact that you can't simply knock over a stack of tetras (as was the case in 2003 with stacks) would change the dynamics of the game...

just imagine all of those stackers back in 2003- 73, 365- remember how poorly they did (even though their robots were technological marvels) thanks to the simplicity of a stack.. those robots would dominate..

and how about that HDPE on the ramp, we need something even more slippery, even more frictionless?

Re: 2005 and 2003 "Super Game"?

Sounds like a cool idea...

How about doing this as a fun aside at an offseason competition? I don't know how the details would work out, but maybe you could have a couple of matches played this way after the real competition is over, or as a fun break in between qualifying rounds and elimination rounds. You could invite teams to use either their 2003 or their 2005 robots perhaps.

It might not be possible, but it's just an idea.

As long as we can add in the human playing from 2004, which was the highlight of that game. It was nice to exercise, and to be more than a glorified human switch. That's what I really don't like about this game--the mundane, boring, and unremarkable human player role.

Thumbs up Re: 2005 and 2003 "Super Game"?

i like the idea as a twist for off season competition. do you think the tetras should be stacked in the middle of the field on a larger tetra? Or just flat on the ground?

that would be a fun game ....... hard yet fun. you would have to have a multi function robot.
