We do have a goal grabber, it's just difficult to use and we can't really move the goal once we're latched on. Probably is our biggest weakness. You have to give something up for all that speed after all.

Anyways, I think that 175, 121 vs 95 and 173 or any combonation of would be a fun match. Their among the best ball handlers in New England (nation?). It'd be fun to see the mad scramble for balls. I would expect all 60 balls to end up in goals, as far as I know thats never happend.

That would definitely be interesting. You'd probably win, though, unless we decided to risk crashing into the goal at high speed. The last time we tried that, it didn't work too well. It works much better when we stop, shift to low gear, and then go.

i think the 365 vs 71 would go like this:
at th beginning, 365 would get there first, but not beable to move the goals out of 71's reach, so 71 would get 3 also, and then start to shuffle to their zone. Nobody can stop 71 from going forward, unless you are using the filecards to push back, not just anchor. It would end with all 3 goals about halfway in 71's zone.

Battle of the File Cards!

We actually had a new "Big Foot" (the large anchor that lifts the chassis of our robot completely up) prepared especially for such a match. I think I counted 10 (?) file cards mounted so that when the ~100lbs of the chassis go on it - I think we'd be ripping some carpet. Further, the weight of the two wings, along with the force we gain from pushing up on the goals (~120 lbs) with the new outer feet assembly would make the match very interesting, for 71 and 365 anyway...

No, ancoring with file cards would be better.

Beatty would most likely be dq'ed for tearing the carpet. It would take a lot of force to move a bot with file cards and I'm sure they'd eventually slip.

Double DQ?

If Beatty pushed against us and we both did not slip, the carpet would bunch on both sides (it doesn't take much to bunch the carpet, we should know). Eventually the bunching would turn into a huge rip in the carpet between the two bots. Who gets disqualified here? Probaly us, because we are great at getting DQed. We have claimed the First DQ in the nation (happened at VCU), the First DQ at Nationals, and the Last DQ at Nationals. We probaly have more DQs than actual losses. Often when we don't get DQed, we get a chokehold win, which also yeilds 0 QPs. We are thinking of changing the robot's name from MOEhawk to MOE DQ. WOOOHHOOOOO!!! We are The DQ Masters!!!!

Just anchoring with file cards is probably not enough. 330 had 5 or 6 at the bottom of thier planting device, but 469 was still able to move them (although not easily by any means). At the end of the match, the file cards were a complete wreck, but there was hardly any (if any) carpet damage.

I disagree I believe we beat you by one DQ. We had one at Kennedy, two in St. Louis(one was a Double DQ ), and one more at the Nationals(by the same referee that DQed us twice at St. Louis, boy he liked us).

Joe, this situation is a slightly different. Beatty would have to push a 3 goal + MOEhawk system with about 14 file cards on the floor distributed between our 3 anchors. The nagging question is: Can the BEAST push this mess of well-anchored metal from one scoring zone to the next in less than 2 min?
I know the file cards do not damage the carpet. After the static friction is overcome, the file cards slide themselves out of the carpet and slip harmlessly across the carpet at a severely reduced coefficient of friction. The only damage I can see occurring is a tear in the carpet due to carpet bunching on both sides, not the file cards cutting it. While some bots were pushing against us, the referees forced us to retract our brakes due to carpet bunching.

Yes, Heatwave does have 1 more total DQ than us, but all of the First and Last titles still belong to MOEhawk. However, we did have a partner get shut down during a quaterfinal match because a hit released thier tether (I believe it was spring-loaded) out of bounds. Thier tether missed the line referee by atleast a couple inches , he shouldn't have shut down thier bot.
Did you have a mid-match shut down like this Heatwave?
