eMachineshop.com and FIRST

There is an article on businesswire.com about eMachineshop.com and FIRST.
http://home.businesswire.com/portal/site/google/index.jsp?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=2005022800608 2&newsLang=en

Pretty cool. I am curious, what part do you think they are referring to?

I think they might be refering to teams that use the website, but I never herd of it before. I wonder how cheep it really is to use.

Re: eMachineshop.com and FIRST

What was in the kit that's injection molded and not an off the shelf part?

And what's he talking about with the scholarships? Of all the schools he listed only Northeastern offers a FIRST scholarship.

Re: eMachineshop.com and FIRST

My first guess would be the tetra clovers.

20,000 clovers made.

4,000 clovers in kit of parts

16,000 left over for scoring tetras.

Total number of tetras that can be built with 16,000 clovers = 4,000

Re: eMachineshop.com and FIRST

I would think it is the clovers because it says it is part of the manipulatives. Also I was looking on emachineshop.com and saw that they do Wire EDM machining and was wondering if any one has used them. I was thinking about the pinions for the CIM to DeWALT transmission.

OOOoooo. How about custom internal gears for a custom planetary? Hrrm, but I don't think it is possible with the software they make you use.

I think they have the capability for you to give them a file containing your part.
