Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional

I love halo 2. Anyone willing to set something like this up at the BAE Granite State Regional? I will definitely participate.

- Give each person their own screen

I can give you more tips, but need to know if it is a fundraiser, or just for fun. Also ask some of the guys who play in regular halo tourneys. We had two of them help us set up the matches, and they were able to tell us how to run it.

this tournament would just be for fun as a "team social". We might have prizes we arent sure yet.

I do but won't be at your regional. you guys should also go by MLG settings to they really do help with the unbalanced weapon array on the game.

Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional

hey here's a quick update from the folks at team 1323

we will be doing 16 player team slayer matches with random maps with standard weapons.
you will be able to send up to 4 players from a team and we will pair you up with another team so it will be on 8 on 8 much like FIRST runs their competitions.
this way there is more of a team/alliance atmosphere.
if you cannot send 4 players just send as many as you can and we will pair you with another team that doesnt have 4 players.
there will be prizes to be determined.

a couple of things we need input on. we cant come up with a simple and effective seeding/scoring method. any ideas? i like random personally but i dont know.
also if its not too much to ask could you please bring 1 controller per team or more if you want. we should be fine on xboxs.

we are planning on having it during the day at the competition so some members have something to do while the robot isnt competing. we will schedule so it wont correspond with match times. we are bringing an RV with us to use as a power source.

one last thing...do you all think sign-ups on thursday would be best?

thanks a lot and looking forward to you replies and seeing you at sacramento
we are staying at the Hanmark Inn

Angry Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional

Shame on ALL of you. Halo is rated M for Mature and has all sorts of violence!!! No people should be playing violent video games It is a very bad influence, escepially for young people...

NOT

HALO 2 ROCKS!!!! Im in all the way! Team 100 is going to bring two (hopefully) Xbox' and play other people in other hotel rooms cause we have like a 50ft ethernet cable (actually, we have 2 of them). We also got 1 headset. So, if you want to play eachother and we are staying at the same hotel, just talk 2 us in the pits! We will be staying at the very affordable Holiday Inn....

I really like the 8 vs 8 idea, but maybe incorperate a few rounds of capture the flag. Ill be thinking of ways to do the tourney.. Maybe have each team donate a small prize (like a set screw), and 50% go to the first place team, 35% to the 2nd place team, and 15% go to the 3rd place team.

P.S. I bet that first paragraph woke you up!!!!
P.P.S HALO 2 ALL THE WAY!
P.P.P.S Im getting bored...

Ummm, if anyone else is interested in setting up more Halo fun near/at the hotels, Team 100 has 50 feet cables for xboxes and will be open for another Halo party later on. We will have 2 Xbox's as already said, and if you are staying at the Holiday Inn or any hotel close to that, feel free to post on my thead about what Hotel you are staying at or just talk 2 me/our team in the pits.

Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional

Well, I got a lot 2 say. First of all it REALLY sucked that we were notable 2 play at the event. If team 1323 is going to Silicon Valley Regional, please tell me so i can try 2 help you set up the same tourney at that regional (If you want). I can bring stuff, and help talk with the regional director. And if you are going and you cant have the tourney, please give me his contact information so i can try to talk 2 him. (I have my ways...)

On another note, I am now (unofficialy) the best player on our team so I am even more determined to help you guys get this thing going. So, anyways, please tell me if you are going to the regional and all the other stuff i mentioned.

IA-Howitzer,
Thanks for your interest in our "tournament". it was good talking to you on thursday in the pits.
yeah we were bummed we werent able to host the tournament. it would have been awesome to do it friday night as there was not a Team Social at all this year. we'll plan something for next year from team 1323. they probably wont let us do a halo 2 tournament at sacramento if they didnt this year tho.

feel free to do one at san jose. unfortunately we will not be attending due to lack of money. no nationals this year either but next year for sure.
i think it would be great to put on a tournament. we thought it would be hugely popular and a great social but our plans were shot down.
good luck at san jose.
