Wiring Banner sensors

ok part programming/electrical question here

right now this is how our banner sensor (the line tracker from 2 years ago) is wired up, our first time doing it to so please excuse the mistakes if there are any

Banner sensor is connected to the white wire of the pwm able
the brown cable goes to the breaker board
the black goes to the ground
and the pwm cable end where you plug into control board, WRB, the RB are not in use

not sure if this is how we wire it?

| to breaker
|__to ground
ok programming problem is our digital_oc_input (or whatever variable is, dont have reference guide with me sorry) is always 1, is it because our white line (alternating black and white lines on label paper stuck to a piece of paper then glued onto wheel) isnt reflective enough or is the range too close, ithink...about 3 inches away from the banner sensor

any help would be appreciated thanks

Re: Wiring Banner sensors

There's no blue wire on your sensor? The correct connection for the banner sensors from 2003 is:

brown wire (+12V) is connected to a 20A breaker on the breaker panel

blue wire - ground on breaker panel (not the RC)

The signal can be configured one of two ways. If the black wire on the sensor is connected to the digital input Signal pin (White PWM wire), the default value is 0 (open). If the white wire on the sensor is connected to the signal pin, the value read will be 1 (closed).

You probably need to adjust the gain on the sensor. There is a little variable resistor on the side of the sensor that can be adjusted with a screwdriver. Use the light on the sensor to figure out if the sensor is reading the wheel correctly. If the light is on it is seeing a white. If it is off it is seeing black. If the light doesn't change when you move the wheel, adjust the gain on the sensor.

Adjusting the sensors is a a guess-and-check process. This will most likely solve your problem, although you may have it wired incorrectly. Check the wiring as I described above.

sorry yeah the black i had was blue sorry, i had a B on my pencil diagram and didnt post about it till couple days later so i assumed it was black. mm and the light you were refering to, we have it close by default so when it hits white lines it should be 0? and the light you were refering to its the actual red light that emits from the banner sensor or is it on the side of the sensor

Re: Wiring Banner sensors

btw is white from normal printing paper enough to be recognized or does it need to be something like white electrical tape or reflective tape?

yup its pretty much any white, my team use white out to produce white whch works well and black can be almost naythign too like electircal tape or a sharppee or black plastic of your wheels.

if your concerned tho about your white and black u have that lil adjustment in and that should be able to help u find the balance between the two and also will help u if distance of the sensor is an issue.

Re: Wiring Banner sensors

is the item you are sensing a wheel?

and all three wires go directly to the computer. use the white wire.
