Resetters need to watch the rules.

At the peachtree regional I noticed the field resetters placing the tetras into position before the teams were done setting up their robots. This is not in accordance with the rules and needs to be watched out for. In this situation, someone could easily hit a switch to dead reckon to the correct location if they knew what it was (which in this case they would).

You may be right, I'm not saying it didn't happen. But my experience at a scrimmage and from watching webcasts is they place the Tetras in a Standard Position on the field (I never checker to see the numbers but it may be 1 & 2. Then they pick the numbers and reset them after the robots are set. I didnt watch most of the matches, but this is what I saw. It does look like they're setting them up when they do it, but then they move 'um.

Re: Resetters need to watch the rules.

I noticed the pre-placement as well. But when they moved the vision tetras into final position, there were still teams tinkering (like turning on, flipping switches, etc) with their robots.

Re: Resetters need to watch the rules.

Sand,

I saw this at the BAE as well. It happened almost every match. Also, the placement og vision tetras was very sloppy.

I am sure that FIRST will improve on this...

Re: Resetters need to watch the rules.

at VCU they kept the 2 visions stacked next to the center goal until the teams were behind the wall. I know at least once they reset them cus a team came out and adjusted the robot. So at least at VCU they did a good job.

Re: Resetters need to watch the rules.

first competition (and sadly the only regional) for us this year is this coming weekend at UTC so hopefully some of the possible technical kinks are fine tuned after this past weekend.

Re: Resetters need to watch the rules.

If you see this happening, respectfully go and talk to the Field Supervisor. They likely might be too busy to notice that the vision tetras are place too soon.

As much as we would like it, not everyone that volunteers at an event knows the rules perfectly, or at all.

Re: Resetters need to watch the rules.

At FLR the field reset guys held the vision tetras in their hands until all drive teams were off the field then they placed them. As far as I noticed they were very consistent.

Re: Resetters need to watch the rules.

The Sacramento regional seems to have been one of the better ones about this. The tetras were left where they fell until the teams cleared the field.

Re: Resetters need to watch the rules.

Being behind the scoring table i get to see how things are run at NJ. To be sure that the vison tetras are completely random. We have address numbers (like the ones on a mailbox or a house) and the scorekeeper genenrates the random numbers and puts the two corresponding numbers facedown on the scoring table. Then when the MC is doing the team introductions (at which point all 6 teams are behind the stations) the field resetters turns over the numbers glances at them and then places the tetras on the corrseponding locations on the ground. This way it's all fair and square.

Re: Resetters need to watch the rules.

at purdue we waited until the match was ready to go. our "tetrets" were very good at placing them quickly and didn't hinder match play much.
