This hurt us severely this weekend at Peachtree. We were in several matches where the loser (both in matches we won, and matches we lost) ended up with 0. Hurt us a lot in the rankings, as it put us at the bottom of the teams with our won/loss record. I hope that FIRST looks at this for next year, as with the large penalties this year it is really easy for an alliance to end up with a zero, and that isn't all that fair to both the opposing teams, and to the other teams on their alliance. I spent a lot of time this weekend explaining to our team members why we were so far down (due to the zero scores).

Er, the cappers? 639

The only other time we played with GRR, we got 65 pts. After the 76pt match, we played with 191 again and got a 6-0 win. Quite a contrast.

Re: 05 World Wide High Scores

yeah.... team 121, 126, and 350 pulled a 79 match in semi match 1.2 ... if gael force moved there arm (which would have been 2 or 3 more seconds) we would have had a score of over 100!!! so it was wicked close and we are hoping to beat it at nationals

Besides High scores - what was the highest stack made on the center. At Rochester it was the Division by Chicken Due fighting each other in one match with 11 total Tetras stacked on the center goal.

11? on center? I must have missed this one, I saw them fighting for a side one the first time they met against each other and there were 9.

Re: 05 World Wide High Scores

Not only did we have 78, BUT we were 2 darn seconds away from capping that corner goal to give us all 9 goals controlled, which would have given us 111 (unless im being stupid, which is always a possibility). O well, it was good enough

Re: 05 World Wide High Scores

yeah that was a rough match when we lost 79 to like 13 or something in the semis at the BAE... 213 broke, 529 didn't have an arm, and we just played terribly... but what can you do... but it was awesome that during the regular matches we (88) scored from 70-80 points 4 times... wooot!

Re: 05 World Wide High Scores

The score from match 28 is true. I'm one of the mentors-builders for
team 1610. (mb) I was in the seats and scoring teams while that
match was going on. 401 i think came in number 1 and is going to
nationals. we were the no.1 rookie team and were invited to nationals.
616 our alliance partner during quarter and semi finals is also going
to nationals. we came in 5th,616 9th.

401 has a arm that not only goes up and down, but turns on a turret
side to side. they also have a very good auto mode. our auto
works and we picked up a tetra, but it needs some tuning.
we did get a tetra up and over a goal (center) in auto once, but
the time ran out, this was before we went to vcu.

Re: 05 World Wide High Scores

BTW if you want a really high score....how about 300....but for penalties.
during one of our later matches our alliance was mistakenly given
a score or 300 for penalties, but was later corrected to 30.

Re: 05 World Wide High Scores

btw again....for the michigan folks.....Sparky 384 did very well during
the VCU regional. In the end though they were attacked during one
of the quarter final matches, had a little bit of bad luck and their
alliance partners came up a little short.

They seemed to be one of the ones to beat. Sparky can take
a good beating too. They had their arm damaged and came bad
from it in no time (during a earlier Sat. match) and came back
and did well.

:-\ in our first match the refs accidentially took 30 points from our score when it was sopposed to go to the other team. They wouldnt change it afterwords

Re: 05 World Wide High Scores

I wont say this is a boring game, because it isnt. Week 1 may have been packed with low scores, and TONS of penalties, but by week 4 or 5 scores should increase a good 10 points per match as teams get used to avoiding penalties.
Even during day 2 of competition the scores went up significantly. Especially during the elims, where penalties happened FAR less than during the qualifying matches.
The bottom line is, the final match in VCU was a 1 point win, and usually, that means it was one exciting match.
The way this game is designed, the best, and most exciting matches, wont be the ones with incredibly high scores. Because to get a high score, you have to own almost all of the goals, and that typically would mean it was a pretty lop-sided match. The most exciting matches are going to be the ones with scores like, 29-28, 38-35, ect, where both alliances are going to have a row or two, and then it comes down to the amount of tetras in play. The 98-0s, or the 76-10s, while 1 team will get excited, the audience will not feel the same way.
