Re: Amazing Rookies

What an amazing experience! This was my first year with FIRST and unfortunately my last, being a senior and all. The regional really opened up my eyes to what this program was really about, and its far reaches. All the teams showed awesome competiveness, and more importantly sportsmanship. I would like to leave with some pictures and one last comment: Never before would I expect breakdancing at a robotics competition, but the girls from Where's Waldo definately changed my mind

Re: Amazing Rookies

I would like to second 1517 as an incredible rookie. You guys were seriously incredible. I saw you stack three?? tetras on the center goal and I went like this .

1507 - Regional Finalist
1511 - Rookie All Star
1518
1551 - Judges award
1559 - Highest Rookie Seed and another award... I'll get back to you
1567 - Judges award
1591

1518, 1591 - I can tell you'll be right in the hunt next year.

I am SOOOO proud of all the amazing rookies we had at the Finger Lakes Regional. They ALL stepped up and not only competed with amazing robots, but also fit right in with the t-shirts, mascots, pins and banners.

All year these rookie teams have supported each other, through emails and seminars. I had hoped they were adequately prepared. I had no idea I'd be so blown away.

I hope at some point to be able to share all their amazing stories.
Let's not forget the amazing "Rookie Regional" - FLRC. you guys did a great job, as good as any regional I've been to. The Friday social was top notch, way beyond expectations.

And also, every rookie team that had a veteran team helping them, the veteran teams deserve a lot of credit. We learned so much from ours and wouldn't have made it there without them.

Re: Amazing Rookies

Speaking of amazing rookies, Team 1592 was part of our winning alliance at the Florida regional. They had an excellent drive system using the kit gear box and six wheels, and they had an arm/gripper that worked very well. We picked 1592 over a bunch of veteran teams, and they didn't disappoint us.

Re: Amazing Rookies

Looks like team 1625 dominated St. Louis. Undefeated #1 seed. Regional champions. Highest rookie seed (obviously) and rookie all star.
