Gender differences study

I know there is a thread about why there aren't more girls on teams; there is a quiz on BBC.com which is supposed to show whether you have a more "male" or "female" brain. I wonder if FIRST girls have a different 'brain gender' than girls who are not interested in robotics. Click here to take the quiz.


Also, I wonder if the results of the BBC's study will support Harvard University president Larry Summers' views of women.

I got 0 (exactly in the middle between male and female).

This kind of surprised me:

I got 12 out of 12. I was surprised too!

Turns out after i tried the test again it let me finish and the results:
im 100 male, that more male than most males! (Yes i am male)
scored a 12 on the shapes and a 20 on the angles

Oh my gosh... I think like a girl... but that's okay, I throw like a girl too. Well, that was very interesting. I did better on the angle thing than I did on the rotated shapes thing but still not that great (who said I had to learn how to read a map?) and I was very surprised at how well I did on guessing how many of the objects had been moved.

i did well in just about all the sections; as they are divided as to who usually scores higher in them, males or females, my overall actually evened out to be zero. I got the same results as above, 11/12 and the engineering background stuff.. but then some of the things they told me were pretty wacky. For example.. they told me i had 7/20 empathising, thought like a guy, and probably wasn't very good at it.. but then in the next section they told me that i was very good at it and thought in a more feminine manner. not sure i understand that one.

The same thing happened to me. I got a 6/20 empathizing, but a 9/10 judging people's emotions. So we can tell when someone needs comforting, but we prefer not to do the comforting ourselves.

In one of my engineering classes, we took the
Myers-Briggs test, which is supposed to sort out the different facets of your personality. One of the parts tells you whether you're more "thinking" or "feeling" (whether you make decisions based on logic or feelings). Out of thirty people, only two people were classified as "feeling." Of course, everyone in the room looked at me (the only girl in the class); however, I am a very solid "thinker."

I got a 50 on the mens side. I guess I think more like a guy. Not much of a suprise to me tho, Ive always gotten along with guys better.

I'm a bit disturbed that something that is suppose to evaluate which characteristics belong to each gender also scores math and right-brainedness as being a guy thing...where is the test? This looks like a long method for people to confirm what they already believe.

to be honest with you i think that the way they determine your sex upon the reasoning of certain questions is stereotypical. like women are better at directions and have a better memory for where things are located/arranged.

i dot really agree with this.

I think they were saying that the creators of this study found that on average, the women who took the test could remember the locations of items better than the men. Of course there are exceptions, but in this case, I wouldn't say it's strictly a stereotype.

They're not saying that a good memory is inherently a female trait; they're saying that female minds are more likely to remember more items' locations than male minds.

I got 25% on the male side... I sorta figured it would be that way, so no surprises there, but I am still trying to figure out the whole hand-crossing thumb in top thing... every other "test" of this type I've taken has said completely the opposite (me being more left-brained as opposed to right) so that was my only shocker. Interesting quiz though.
