What Hours do you work?

Well last night while driving home from work, it hit me that i really work some crazy hours. I work at universal studio's as a yacht captain. The yacht's run from 8:30 am to 2:30 am 7 days a week 365 days a year. My usual shift i work 6:30 pm to 3 am. Now that is a normal 8 hours for anyone, but working till 3 am is late. Once or twice i have worked till 3 am and had to be back at work at 7:30 am. They give those hours to the new captains to "break them in", we also throw them in the water right when they pass the test to become a captain. See in citywalk were i work all the restaurants and stores close at 11 pm, but all the bars are open till 2 am. About 11:30 we start getting the people that have had a little to much to drink. I have seen everything on the boat. I have seen people get sick, i have had a drunk come after me and try to hit me, i had a guy threaten to kill me, One guy so drunk he fell into the water, another who got on the roof of the boat and ran across. I do enjoy working that late tho because the there are alot of nice people also that talk to you and are just pleasant.

Also working at a place that is open 365 days a year you work holidays. I worked thanksgiving, christmas and New years.

So what hours and/or holidays do you work?

Re: What Hours do you work?

This past Christmas I worked at American Eagle. The store is open from 9 am - 9 pm (M-F) and 9 am - 11 pm (Sat.-Sun.)

Those hours aren't too crazy, but a few days before Christmas we have "overnighters" to mark down stock, move clearance items, rearrange the store and put out the spring collection. So on (the night of) 12/21, 12/22 and 12/23 I worked from 7pm-3am, 10 pm-6 am and 10 pm-3 am, respectively. We had a lot of fun, but man, those hours get long in a hurry. The best part is, you can bring friends along to help and they can earn some cash too. (I had Ricky and ChellyZee come on two different nights!!) I'll be working at AE again this summer; hopefully we won't have to do too many floorsets!!

For a few years I was a real "Yacht Captain", 80' Sailboat. In the winter, when we were on charter in the Carribean, I would sail the boat all night so the guests would wake up in a new harbor every morning. After breakfast, other members of the crew would take shopping, diving etc. and I could sleep for a couple of hours, then dinner and a sunset party, then move the boat. Just another Day in Paradise, two years was enough of that.
