Operater Interface.

Curious to see what everyones Operater Interfaces looked like. We built a large box out of diamond plate. We baught a flat pannel touch screen, mounted it to the top, and ran dashboard off of the computer that we built into the box. The dashboard ran at all times since it was battery powered. Anyone that was at the GLR probably noticed our fine craftminship on the box. Our joysticks were mounted on the sides, and the OI controller was mounted in the middle. There were switches that controlled the fan speed into and out of the box. It was a work of art, along with our hydrolic lift cart.

Re: Operater Interface.

Sounds awesome, I like the touchscreen idea. Our OI is a simple peice of wood with a lexan box on top of it, housing the OI. The joysticks plop on top with some velcro. Nothing special but it gets the job done (and beats our '04 OI)

Re: Operater Interface.

Ours was made out of plexi which we painted with our team numbers. We too included a laptop in our OI, and ran dashboard off of it (and it helped us when the Radio Shack control award). Yours sounds a lot cooler than ours though, can you post a pic?

Re: Operater Interface.

Ours is made of lexan and aluminum channel extrusion, re-anodized red. 4 joysticks (the good old ones, not the crappy new ones) and a 6" by 4" box with a Canada flag decal to house the 8 switches which control the autonomous mode (all 480 programs of it). Looks pretty decent, and is light and a breeze to carry around.

Re: Operater Interface.

We bent and machined a piece of aluminum. It holds the OI vertically with two drive joysticks (the good old ones) and a button box for the lift mech. The Al is turned; I know it as engine turning, where a round abrasive pad is pressed down in distinct overlaping rows. We then applied sponsor decals. Pics later.

Re: Operater Interface.

We had a really cool and innovative operator interface this year, it was probly the most creative and the most convienent
We used 2 joystics for drive and then we used potentiometers for the arm controls, also another cool thing about our interface is that it expands, because one of the team members couldnt fit it in his passenger seat of his car so we made it expanding and to make it look really nice we painted the lexan orange, this interface is probably our best one out of team 710s five years
here are some pics
