It weighs in the 12-13 lb range. I'm not sure exactly. Not visible in the picture is the steel worm and steel worm shaft.

It's not brass, it's bronze. And anyhow, we design things to not get "chewed up" at all. Those teeth are at least a good 1/4" tall/deep. And the face width is something lik an inch. We will not have any problems whatsoever with this gear.
