Long Island Regional

Long Island Regional began today! It was great, our robot had a few problems but overall it was good. I posted some pictures I took today, I posted them on my website: http://bobfrank.org/?module=Gallery&...Practice%20Day

This day was great and I cannot wait until tomorrow!
Anyone else have pictures from the event up yet that I can take a look at?

My one complaint is that the music was WAY too loud. I was in the stands and pits all day, and my voice is half gone from just one day. I did like the regional though, the venue, while strange, wasn't too bad. I had fun visiting my old team though, and the robots all seemed to work very well. Hopefully tomorrow will be just as cool.

Re: Long Island Regional

I agree the music was too loud, even as I was driving, i could bearly make out what my mentor was telling me to do. My voice is completly dead. I watched the video from my brothers team (97, MIT) @ BAE and the announcer their seemed to give a lot more specific credit to teams. He would actually call what the teams were doing in the match instead of saying, Lets Go! a hundred times. Our sponsor (sorta) wasn't really announced at all either. The field resets were very fast, and even if we were behind to start the opening cerimonies, they really pushed us to get back on schedule. Tommorow if going to be very exiting! Good luck to all!

And with the awards, I was shocked that the Judges Award went to the Quarks! I think their robot could be a good one if they abondoned the strategy of flipping tetras into the goals and played defence, just doing interference. Or, use them as a mobile loader, have them go to the human loading station and follow a capper around. Idk, congrats to 500 for winning the website award. I wouldn't have liked any other team to have beaten us in that competition. It is obvious that you guys put just as much time into your website as went into ours! Really great job.

DAY 1 MOVIES: http://nemesis2.com/phs/robotics/04-05/movies.php

Sorry, the focus is on us, but what do u expect. There are plans in the works for next year for our school tech department to stream SBPLI over our website. Lets hope that pans out!

Ohh yea, and the concession stands need real pizza.

I'll bring this up with the event coordinator tomorrow morning if they have not addressed this issue already.
Thanks for the feedback!

Anyone enjoy the IMAX!?

Re: Long Island Regional

WOW!

Great Regional, I NEVER thought that we would win! I still think that I will wake up any minute, it hasn't set in yet. Congratulations to all teams for a successful and exiting regional and we hope to see you all next year. And, another congratulations to all of the award winners!

I know my brother already started a thread in the Thanks/Congrats sections, on behalf of Team 527, we thank Team 358 and Team 870! You guys completed our alliance perfectly and we couldn't have asked for better teammates! So once again a tremendous, Thank You, you were both excellent! Good luck at the nationals (unfortunatly, due to monitary reasons, we will probably not be able to attend) but we hope to see you next year there.

Movies coming soon.

Seriously, great job 527, 358, and 870. No one team carried the weight on this one...it was an alliance of 3 great teams, which is exactly what was needed to win. Have fun in Atlanta! (I told 527 that if they do wind up going, I'm failing all my classes to fly down for the weekend. I think they're planning on saving whatever money they have left and going next year instead, though.) Again, great job all around!
