Re: your favoirte car

I wouldn't mind having one of These .

It's the 3rd gen Miata, just recently unveiled to the public. It's a nice change from the 2nd gen miatas, which suffered from ever increasing curb weights with out any increase in power or handling. I'm not sure how I feel about the styling changes yet. I had hoped for a more retro feel, maybe even a return to flip up headlights. I just likes the old days.

Some quick specs:

In-line 4 DOHC 2.0 liter engine with variable valves. A flat torque curve and a targeted 160 horses at redline (6,700. cutout is probably around 7,200). This is pretty much the same engine as will end up in the Mazda3 (replacing the current 2.0), but with a vastly different intake and exhaust track. The entire block sits behind the front axle again.
There are options for a 5 or 6 speed manual transmission or a 6 speed 'sport' automatic.
Theres no data given for handling yet. Given the 50:50 weight balance and the Miatas history of being for having the best handling for the money, you can expect these little buggers to be big hits at autocross events. It's been described as the first generation Miata done with the budget and technology the design team wanted 16 years ago. Considering how much I love my 'low tech' Miata from '90, its hard to believe it could get better.

And this one even has things like airbags! Just think, getting hit in this Miata just might not be a death sentence.

Can't wait for a test drive.
