Team Update 17 Released.

http://www2.usfirst.org/2005comp/Upd..._Update_17.pdf

It clarifies that an individual team gets DQed in the qualifying matches but the whole alliance in elims.

Re: Team Update 17 Released.

We had a question at UTC, which the people at FIRST we feel ignored the question and by skimming through the rules we could find an answer to.

If a team is disqualified in qualifing rounds, how is that team supposed to be scored?

At UTC the team that got DQed had all it's points taken away but the other two teams in the alliance still outscored our alliance. We understand the other two teams should have gotten the win and our alliance should have gotten the loss but how should the team that DQed gotten scored.

Should they have gotten the win because their alliance won, should they have gotten an automatic loss to their record, or should they have not had any win/loss added to their record?

The rules weren't clear to us by reading the book and the people we talked to just delegated the question off to the field judges and nobody responded with an explination on how that situation was handeled or who made the decision. It is possible we overlooked a rule too because like most teams, we don't expect to be in the situation to get DQed and during the regionals we were more worried about fixing the robot than argueing with FIRST and searching the rule book.

I answered this question for someone at the UTC regional.... but here is the answer agian:

Manual Section 8.3.3 clearly states:

"A disqualified team will receive zero Qualifying Points and zero Ranking Points."

Hope that answers your question.
