Re: What's The Coolest Thing A Team Can Give Out?

id have to say our team had the coolest handouts this year bar none...
sorry to all of you who like the slinkies and candy, but you cant beat ours

this year my team (40) had a student design a double layered maze using CAD and AutoDesk. the maze was 2"x2"x1/2" and was red and white checkered (which matched the paint job on out robot and our team rugby shirts). it used a .1" steel bb that went up and down the paths and could fall through holes to the other side of the maze.

we had about 60 to hand out at BAE and they went faster than you can imagine. we made 100 more for Waterloo and those went like lightening. the student personally designed them to be extremely addictive and aggravating to solve.

fyi, we made another game like this last year and during break Dean Kamen and all of the judges were playnig with them.

sorry to disappoint, but u cant beat those

YES! These things were AWESOME!

Team 188's giveaways are decks of playing cards with the Blizzard logo on the back. (See my avatar)

You probably haven't seen them, because they're extremely "limited edition," but every team at Pittsburgh and Waterloo got two packs each. So if you were lucky enough to get one ...

Re: What's The Coolest Thing A Team Can Give Out?

My team has been looking at givaways for nationals (yeah, it's kinda late for buttons)
One of the easiest and cheapest things we could come up with were Custom Linux Live-disks. Just remaster Knoppix, rip everything out and put in our favorite *nix programs and cool team wallpaper, and voila! Is this a good givaway, or should we stick to overpriced buttons?

Talking Re: What's The Coolest Thing A Team Can Give Out?

The coolest thing I ever got was...ready for this? you better be sitting down 'cause this is gonna be big. The Somerville HS team (101 or 102) was handing out...ready?...BOTTLES OF HAND-SANITIZER THAT HAD BELT HOLSTERS ON THEM! Yeah, I know. You're probably thinking, "It's genius, how could someone have thought of something so simple, yet so marvelous??" They were sponsored by Verizon and were walking around with huge bags with frisbees, hacky sacks, buttons, THE HAND SANITZER, and other stuff.
At the Trenton Regional we all walked around flashing our new hand sanitzer holsters. That's right. I bet you wish you had one of these.
Kudos to team 102...or is it 101?

Re: What's The Coolest Thing A Team Can Give Out?

yea.. we give out these cool little medalions.. precision edge makes them with a lazer.. they are faily expensive.. i think 3$ a pop and we handed out over 300 at toronto and over 150 at GLR. . . .. *thanks to precision edge they were free :d.... we thought EVERYONE would have a lanyard we heard they were common giveaways and were shocked that many ppl did not have one to put the medalion on.. so ppl stuck another teams button's pin thru the hole at the top.. and then stuck it to their shirts etc..

.but i thought the beach balls (dunno team @ Toronto) and freesbees (frog force @ GLR)were cool ... and the ontario power light thingys were cool at toronto . .adn i didnlt get one .. . also team pins are REALLY nice but expensive.. we were thinking on getting one with the us/can flag crosing.. so ppl can use that to stick medialion to shirt. . but we ran outa promotional funding. . .. .we are already spending WAYYYY to much .. 75k USD total this year.. its been CRZY!

at the nationals we are giving away first aid kits(pits), medialions, and robot inspection checklists(pits)... and i think buttons if we make them in time..

The coolest thing would be a team giving out copies of all the regional matches in full, ones that they have been to of course. Team 108 is awesome because they are doing this for nationals, you rock guys!!!

We're giving out not only brochures of our team, but general safety brochures.

We actually may be seen giving out more than that, so check out Team 1676 in the Archimedes Division (www.teampioneers.com).
