*My buddy Joey and I came up with Star Wars labels for people in FIRST:
~Rookies: Luke Skywalker
~Second Year: Han Solo
~Third Year: Obi Wan
~Four Years and Up: Yoda
our team made Star Wars nicknames for members of the team individually during the build period ranging from "John Solo" to "Boba Jess" (which is mine), but we just named all the freshman ewoks and refer to them as "Jub-Jubs"

There aren't any programming bugs..... they're programming features.

Sexy Strippers...... (the strippers that can strip multiple... wires at once!)

we actually use the name like "hand me that whirligig"
also for sum reason we all say wobbelin i dont no y
i dont no wat it actually means
its just kinda "that robot is wobbelin"
if n e one knows 1218 their robot "wobbels" alot but thats a more literal use of the term

Re: Lingo

I think that the fact that we use numbers to identify whole teams and know what the person is talking about. Also "lazy susan strippers." the wire strippers where you just squeeze it and it takes off the insulation as well as stripping it.

Re: Lingo

This is something specific to our team, but I like it:

Side that goes up = Goezup

Side that goes down = Goezdown

These are the names we use to describe which side of our arm does what job.

Also here is another one specific to our mini regional;

PARC = Pennsylvania(PA) Robotics Competition. If anyone wants to participate at the PARC (May 7th) visit www.tigertrons.com, click on PARC and then click on register.

oy, i hear ya.

our teacher advisor usually calls things "scabbagraff" (at least i think that's what he says) when he is at a loss for words or can't think of the name. the sad part is I used to think there was actually such a thing

Re: Lingo

The Dictionary of Boyceisms is a list of the more colorful expressions of our head mentor, many of which have rubbed off on us. The two we use most frequently are "buttah" (lubricant) and "caddywampus" (skewed, like the 2004 Friarbot).

Incidentally, to some mentors that haven't worked with FIRST Robotics previously, even "Victor" and "Spike" are considered to be lingo. We had to explain to a new mentor this year that when documenting our work, "Victor" was a lot more useful than "Speed Controller".
