Re: Volunteering

The pit anouncer makes the match announcements for the queuing crew, along with safety announcements, help calls [ie... team #xxx needs .... if you have extra come to the pit announcers table.] and the like.... i remeber at nationals in 2001 the pit announcer was passing on some fun messages [ie. britney spears, your party is waiting for you on the curie field... ect.]

The guy at NJ last year was a lot of fun... we were missing a team in queing and he got on the speaker trying to get them there... he was like "Team #xxx you have just won a prize. Team #xxx meet 'so and so' at the queuing entrance to claim your prize" we had two students come running over wanting to get the prize and we were like "you have to have your robot with you to get it."

Awesome

The Boilermaker regional still needs volunteers. So.. if you're going to be in the area and your team isn't competing that weekend, then sign up and come on over to be a part of Indiana robotics at its best! From what I understand they still need refs, scorers, robot inspectors, pit announcers and a few more things. Show your dedication to FIRST and sign up! It would make my day.

Re: Volunteering

I'm signing up to be scorekeeper at LA (last second sub for the person doing it the rest of the competition), but I'm having VIMS issues.

I signed up, and finished everything, but I can't finish contact info for some reason. I have everything except for Title & Company/School on the primary address and Company/School on the secondary address, and a phone
number extension, and I have a big red X on that tab

This is urgent. Any help is appreciated.

(I also E-mailed this to volunteer@usfirst.org , hopefully I can get a response by tomorrow)

Re: Volunteering

A question to all:
I'm working on finalizing some plans on getting to nationals this year without my team, and I would plan on volunteering. Is it too late to sign up? I know that FIRST sent out a call for volunteers a week or two ago, but I don't know if that has been fulfilled. Also, since I'm not sure if I'm going yet 100%, should I sign up now or wait until I have received confirmation?
Thanks,
Alex Pelan

Re: Volunteering

I was field reset at Pittsburgh and Philly

This year's game was very enjoyable to watch, and being right next to the field was a great place to watch it from. My job (for most of the time) was to remove the hanging tetra from one of the pocket goals, if it was not downed in autonomus. Reset the human stacks, easy stuff.

We had a problem at Philly, about 20 tetras broke thruout both days, and only one or two broke at Pitt.

Figure out if you are going or not, then sign up. If they need help, they will contact you.

Bump. Please please help. It still isn't working, and the comp starts tomorrow. Now my e-mail is showing as a duplicate, but I don't know to what. I still haven't had any form of an interview yet either. I'm desperate!

Re: Volunteering

I was suppose to volunteer at:

NYC FLL State Tournament but couldn't make it due to work related issues
NJ Regional but couldn't make it due to Health related issues

I volunteered at the:
NYC Regionals as Pit Support but was later changed for Team Queing for the days I was there

I would like to volunteer at:
The Championship Event as Team Queing and other Field or Pit related work

In 2004 I volunteered at the NYC FLL State Tournament as a referee and the NYC Regional as Field Resetter on practice day.

Not bad for my 2 years of volunteering and 5 years involvement Anyone looking for a mentor / coach in the NYC area =)
