Re: Proudest Moment
My proudest moment was when my son Robert aka rob27 a four year member and cocaptain of team RUSH 27, applied to and was excepted by four very good engeering schools. recieving merit based scolarships to all four. I feel First had much to do with this. Robert will be attending MIT in the fall. Thank you Kyle Hughes and FIRST!

Re: Proudest Moment
My proudest moment this season was when Cyber Blue 234 made it to the semi-finals at the Boilermaker regional, losing 1 match to 2 to the number 1 seed alliance. The robot did great and we had a great time.

Re: Proudest Moment
I'd have to say that my proudest moment was when almost everybody on my team lost their voices after the first day at the Rochester regional and then went out and screamed again the second day...that and winning Rookie Inspiration in Rochester and Rookie All-Star in GTA. Oh and getting picked by the 6th place alliance when we were seed 42 was awsome!!

Re: Proudest Moment
is it true that rolling thunder actually dropped out of the running for Rookie All-Star at the GTA competition so that waldo would have a better chance of winning?? That's what someone on my team told me...

Re: Proudest Moment
I know..haha good times...you guys kept winning so many awards!! it was cool though how when we won all-star you like lined that alleyway thing into the main hall so that when we ran past we gave you high fives..was it planned that way or were you guys just coming back to your seats?

Re: Proudest Moment
Mine was probably making it into the Finals at Rochester. I have never felt so excited and happy!!!
Also I loved losing my voice at every competition. It was especially fun when we had to go to Mississauga the week after Waterloo and I still didn't have my voice back and I was the only one in the pit for people to ask about our robot.. Yeesh that was fun, but painful . |

Re: Proudest Moment
My proudest moment came just Saturday. I was at work and another 04 grad of team 93 called me and told me team 93 was the champion of the Western Michagan Regional. Their first event win. I went back to work and I was really happy of what the current team members had accomplished, and knowing what bluiding blocks I set down for them to make those accomplishments, accomplishable.
I am very proud of team 93. I know this year the whole team must have worked hard to pull it off. It was deffinatly well deserved. Congrats to everyone this year!!! -Ryan Last edited by RBrandy : 04-04-2005 at 20:12. |

Re: Proudest Moment
Sitting across from a football coach and mentor of a team, who's telling me that he's seriously considering quitting football for his new FIRST team.
Watching him tell us how his kids, who he considered spoiled and overly competitive, once at the regional, jumped to the aid of a nearby team in aid. The coach telling us that it already changed a few student's goals in life, even aiding those who were down on the wrong path. The football coach telling us that he stood in front of his team with an empty budget, asking them that, if asked to go to nationals, who would be willing to work their butts off to pay to go. And getting every hand raised. Having that coach look at my mentor and I, thanking us for helping start his team and aiding him throughout. Seeing the spirit of FIRST in his eyes. But most of all, watching FIRST bestow them the honor of Rookie All Star. There was no prouder moment for me, nor a better reminder of why I spend so much time a week trying to spread FIRST. |

Mine was as Scott said before.... When they announced the Chairman's Award winner for LI and everything started sounding familiar for our team.... and when we won I got to ride on everyone's shoulders
and I was shouting "not with the award! Don't drop the award!!!" And I got to wear the pin on the medals from the regional and me and the drive team sort of stood there and looked at each other and we went crazy..I'm raving a little. Can you tell? Sorry of it sounds like bragging but I'm glad to be able to provide some sort of tangible benefit to the team and as chief scouter, videographer, and secretary, my work has much less visible results than for example the drive/build team or programmers. So here's to all the robotics people who type, tape and scout.... ![]() |

Re: Proudest Moment
Oh man I definitely have a new proud moment from this season..It would be our final match of the GTA finals (well after the match)...Once we won, the driver from 1114 grabbed 1511's team flag, hit our flashing light and beeper and hopped right up onto our forklift/cart and started waving that thing like nothing else! His energy and spirit was amazing to see down there! Hope to have a new moment after the nationals
