Re: How many drivers do you have?

We have two drivers this year, due to the idea that the game might be too complex for one person to play. Bharat does the arm manipulation while i drive the base. We were very close to having myself control the whole robot and have two coaches on the field, but like i said, we decided not to.

Re: How many drivers do you have?

2 Drivers. I control the turret on the ARM, and the lift mechanism it's self. Brian navigates the robot on the field from the goal to the human loader. We seem to work/communicate pretty well together (no dropped tetras becuase they flew off while driving/moving the lift). We don't have a 2nd team becuase we feel the drivers need as much experience as possible.

Re: How many drivers do you have?

There's two different controllers that lift our "arm" up to put a tetra on the 'bot. So I would think one person drove, another person did the "arm".

Our robot is one of those "accordian" robots....See here.

Re: How many drivers do you have?

We have 2 drivers just like pretty much every other team, we have a base driver and an arm operator (me) this i believe is much better than one driver.

with 2 drivers the robot can do things simoltaneously, such as move towards a goal and position it self while lifting up the arm and positining it

Re: How many drivers do you have?

We have 2, driver (Tom) and operator (Me). He drives us around the field, I cap goals and pick up tetras, we work pretty well together under the direction of our coach.

Re: How many drivers do you have?

I believe that this makes Team 269 the odd one out (so far!)

We use one driver simply because, even in a loud auditorium, he can communicate between his right and left hands very well

Hahaha very nice.

Lets see.... I wish I had the chance to watch our bot from the stands (atleast once or twice) when i used to drive, that wouldve been interesting. Neat Idea.

As far as 2 or 1 drivers (assuming an arm), depends on who you have, and your machine.

If you do not have a turret or an arm that extends/ telescopes out, then the arm guy relies a lot on the driver for positioning. The coordination between the two people is a hard thing to learn, you have to have a system. yet, one person for base and one for arm leaves each with less to think about.

With my experience driving tractors/front end loaders moving dirt, if I had someone move the attachments while i drove, that would drive me nuts. Because of this, I think that one robot operator would be more efficient, if the person has the skill and can endure the stress. I would've liked the oppurtunity to try it.

2 drivers like everyone else. One drives, the other one controls the arm.

Re: How many drivers do you have?

We only have one driver because the lift this year is easily operated with the trigger buttons on the joystick - and each joystick controlling one set of wheels.

Re: How many drivers do you have?

we have 2, just like every other team.

I drive the base, my friend Chris drives the arm, and our coach.

we also have an amazing human player (possibly the fastest one at the Waterloo regional) Rob, aka. Cap'n Rob, Captain GM, or Superman.

Re: How many drivers do you have?

716 has 3 drivers. We alternate the chasis drivers, and we have one arm driver. It seems to work pretty well. It's only during finals that things get kinda interesting.

Re: How many drivers do you have?

We have one base driver and one arm operator. Our dirver, Pablo, is completly new with driving but we went to two regionals so he has a lot of prctice. Our operator, Shervin, has been doing it for two years so he knows what going on. The bigest problem we have is communication but thats what the coach is for.
